| Absolutely loved this movie! I haven't read any of the books in almost 15 years but watching it brought back the childhood excitement. The storyline followed that of the book with no surprises so I was very happy about that. And the little actress playing Lucy was spot on. Exactly as I remember from the book. The CG could have been a bit better but it was good nonetheless. This is a Disney movie after all so the violence wasn't gory but still enough to keep you entertained. Hopefully they make the entire series... looking forward to it! |

JUST got back from it, and to be quite honest, I was a little disappointed. Perhaps I set myself up for it because I had hoped it would be on the same standing as LOTR. It wasn't anywhere close.
In some scenes the visual effects were so terribly done, it almost made me cringe. In my honest opinion they didn't do a very great job in presenting the story, and I was sad that they seemed to only touch surface points. I don't think they were concerned so much with the story itself as they were with the "Action".
It left me with a feeling like there was something missing. There was something key they didn't quite get, however I cannot really pinpoint what it was.
On the other hand, I think the soundtrack was magnificent. I will make sure to either download or buy it for sure. I thought the choice of characters was decently chosen, (except for Lucy... she bugged the crap out of me the whole time.) For young and I am sure inexperienced actors, they did a good job.
Loved the look of the Queen. Her eyes, skin and hair were awesome.
I would give it an overall 6/10. It had so much more potential than they allowed. I am severely saddened at the poor representation of one of my favourite childhood stories. Boo on Disney! |

honestly, that is my favourite movie ever.. i was as hyped for this as anyone and it totally exceeded my expectations, even beyond LOTR (yes! and this is coming from someone whose read the LOTR trilogy over a dozen times)
the special effects BLEW me away.. absolutely stunning.. theresa what effects didn't you like?? the creatures/battles were amazing IMO.. the magical effects (witchs & aslans powers) were incredible and beautifully done.. the sets and backdrops were mind-bogglingly gorgeous..
i thought Lucy was wonderful, in fact i thought all four children actors acted very well.. Edmund and Peter both suited the part well.. the only slight dissapointment was Susan and it's only because in my mind she had brown eyes.. Tilda Swindon was PERFECT. I also liked Liam Neeson as Aslan..
i found this novel to have definite emotional and moral themes, which i thought the movie did quite well at portraying..
also had no problem slipping into "willing suspension of disbelief" which is crucial for me to see a movie since i find it harder than doing the same while reading..
10/10 - i can't wait for this on dvd, gonna end up screwing myself getting it and then the SE.. :) |
