Kepp trance alive!! (pg. 2)

Well there are alot of people on Trance Addict so there would be plenty of people to market it to. However, the main problem I see is all these MP3's are free for download anyway... As much as some people would buy it to support TA and the artists there are so many more who wouldn't. It would still be fun to just rate tracks though. Having a poll in every track would be cool.

Everything is going along good, especially with all the feedback.

The record label is a great idea, and a good spinoff of this.(trust me,im not in this for the money)
Bring up as many problems/suggestions that you can.
This way we will get everything ironed out and mostly smooth.
Its all about getting a following for the guys who produce good stuff.I just listened to a new track by Peter Safranyos-endforest.
It is great chill track.I just told him about what we want to start up.To give this thing a bit of steam whenever you are posting a reply just mention that we are starting a top 20 list and this way they can be prepared and look out for it.

Thanks again for the POSITIVE responses everyone.

Trance Addict Records would be HUGE

so so so many big trance artists have started here at TA, i'm sure they'd come back for some tracks/remixes to bring attention to new talent as well.

Sounds like a great idea!

this sounds awesome guys, i have no ideas to submit yet. But if this is created then i'll definately submit tracks to be viewed.

This would be great but the only thing I see is that this will be an unecessary burden to swamper who probably has enough things to do already with his own time. Sure, he may not have to actually manage the label, but he has to take responsibility for any technicalities or legal issues or whatnot that has to do with "tranceaddict" and i'm sure no one would like an extra burden being put on their already busy life.

However, I do like the original idea of giving exposure to the artists..

I am in strong favour of maybe a tranceaddict radio or a tracks section, where users can tune in and vote on tracks which they like giving the artists more exposure... Producers would submit whatever tracks they have, and tracks that are professional-enough sounding can make it to the list... I do believe there needs to be some sort of filtering involved so that people don't have to tune in and listen to lord of bass' dance till you drop dead... I think anything that makes it to the radio playlist should sound somewhat professional and should be worthy of a label to sign... We don't want a dozen lordofbasses running around do we? It may be hard for new producers to get their tracks promoted, but it will encourage them to work hard to improve as other more experienced producers have to get to improve and get to the point they are. I'm sick of people picking up e-jay and thinking they are worthy of a label after producing for 1 month...

just food for thought

Definately J.L.

You bring up a good point that i have also thought about.
This wont be some ty,cheesy top 20.
I think there is enough talent here.
The people who will rate some of the tracks will be producing themselves,so thats is going to help filter the bad stuff.

As for swamper been overloaded,i wont burden him with more.I will be working with the who's who of tranceaddict and with their input we will come up with a great solution to make everyone happy.

For now we just have to get producers aware that this is on the way so that they can start seriously making great stuff(some of it is great already)

great idea!

i think a label would be cool but a bit unrealistic. but a radio show or even 'podcast' style thing would be brilliant. good idea j.l!

maybe sort out alliances of different styles and let them rendevouz to organise say a 'prog' cast , a 'melodic' cast a 'hard trance' cast- for lord of bass! etc etc.

or better..

like a forum section for people doing one style to post their tracks there, and another section for each other style. then the sections could organise amongst themselfs?

what do mr swamper and mr terry think?:)

I think there should be soem sort of TA type Radio station that runs off an FTP or something...so peeps upload there tracks and they get played..so we can all have a listen...the only problem is people upload total crap...I dont think someone is going to be an A&R for this type of thing..so it will have to be some sort of unspoken rule....if you really know your track sucks then just leave it. Myabe some of you can build on this idea or come up with something else better. It a refreshing idea though to have a listen to peeps tracks here that arnt signed and are maybe signable but dumb ass record labels wont do it cause the market has gone to .

Great idea! Monthly would be good, and would allow the tracks to be in the "public eye" for longer and of course the admin would't be too bad. Would we be able to submit remixes as well as original material? Perhaps once things are up & running, we could do a monthly release of the top 4 tracks of the month on one EP as a regular thing, which the public would note and hopefully follow and indeed purchase.

PC :tongue2

BOOsTER
now get someone who's stupid enough to give you a decent server with decent bandwidth and no monthly limits...

just imagine how many people would come to just submit mixes...that's already some space on disk...

then how many people would want to d/l or listen...that's some heavy traffic... ;)

Well you could just do a monthly/quarterly competition like the DJ Promotion section does. You can submit one of your tracks for the competition, have specific judges rate them (or do a poll), and then rank them as a Top 10/20. I think that would be most efficient. Doing it weekly would be far too time consuming, plus there wouldn't be enough quality tracks completed in full every week. Space it out a bit more and have people REALLY strive to win the competition.

My opinion... judges would be better. I believe if it was done by Poll, people would win based on TA populatity (how many people can I get to vote) rather than actual overall quality.
