In your opinion: What influance does Age has over the clubbing scene? (pg. 2)

This thread is funny, because my friends and I were just talking about this the other night. I'm 27 but a few of my really good friends are 40, 44, and 45, (all still largin it). When we were out at the G-crasher NEC night in Oct. one girls turned and huged my friend allison(44) and said "good on ya for wanting to come to a night like this" whereby Allison replied "No good on you for finally showing up, I've been waiting for years to have this conversation". They then proceeded to chat the night away.
It's just funny to think how new this is for some people and they think the scene is being born in their time.
Now that we are all a bit older we do go for quality not quantity when it comes to clubbing. We look for clubs that have the right atmosphere, and generally stay away from the big festivals. And I don't really dress in cyber clothes anymore!
But I def agree with everything Fir3start3r said.
To answer the question of the thread I think age has alot to do with the club scene. Look back on TA in 10-12 years when most of the people here are mine,Fir3start3r, and beroshima age, for us it's not a phase, we support the scene and have done for a long time, just like some of the younger people here will, that's what makes clubbing eternal. Without long term support clubbing would have died out a long time ago. |

I have a good friend who is 28 now and went to all innercity's. So this year he was there too. to me 28 seems old, but seeing it thru the eyes of americans, i guess it wuld be normal to be 28 and still go out. Shame u ppl gotta be 21 for all the good stff in life.. :-)
Reading threads from americans and other foreigners, just makes me feel more and more lucky to live in Holland.. Seems like everyone has some kind of envy towards us dutch ppl.
I thought about being old and what kind of music i would listen to. Really weird, coz thinkin bout the past, there were things like rock 'n' roll, punk, rock, the beatles, elvis, and dont forget the 80's music. But now we listen to Trance and Techno n stuff, and we expect it to last forever... Maybe it will, but I'm really curious what my kids will listen to when i grow old(er). Maybe i'll listen to trance when im 50 or 60, but maybe the music of the future will be more appealing than trance. I dont know, but i like fantasizing about it :-)

Well do like this: Marry or live together,try to have kids,when yer lucky it works out,then after a few years of being bored by the other, divorce on friendly base so the kids stay relaxed,and start going out again:toothless
I'm 31,feels like the best time of my life and having fun in the scene,work nightshifts in a hospital,no weekends ofcuz:)
One weekend i have my kids and we're making fun together,the other weekend the kids are with my ex and then i can do whaever i want,i think my life rulesssss like never b4:)

Well, I'm currently 21. I enjoy listening to Trance a lot, going out clubbing, etc. (more as a social experience, but still..) I am fascinated by DJ's and for me, music is an extremely important part of my life.
But what I do NOT like is how many people aged 45-50 are so conservative and are telling "all those teenagers" that it's bad to do drugs, bad to go clubbing, etc. Don't get me wrong, I don't do drugs myself, but I'm mad that these conservative middle-aged settled-down middle-class hicks associate the scene with drugs and sex and stuff, and think that it's BAD to enjoy the Trance culture and clubbing.
All I can say is, when I'm 45-50, I'll be partying, DJ'ing, listening to Trance, and encouraging my kids to go out, party, and get laid :p |

i don't think age matters.
come to think of it, there's an old man frequently patronizing one of the local clubs here in singapore (ZOUK).
he is easily spotted with his leather jacket & white gloves on left hand, black gloves on the right.
there was an article on the newspaper about this man.
he is some surgeon with a daugther the same age as me.
who would expect a 50+ year old surgeon enjoying himself in clubs? |

I don't think that today I could dance 8-10-12-14 hours nonstop like I did when I was 18 and 19. Then again, back then I think I was able to get my hands on some good sh*t :D
Seriously, when I first started clubbing and going to raves (in 90) it was all so new and exciting. Just trying to track down all the tunes and find out what the titles were was a journey in and of intself, as the majority are instrumental. Of course, working at a music store in college helped.
There's just so much music out there, and you don't want to listen to just one kind of music 100% of the time; you'll burn out on it. 10 years ago the whole 303 squiggly acid trippy thing was enough to put a smile on my face, but then trance came along, goa, some drum and bass... and it would be foolish to "limit" myself to only one of the above.
I try to keep an open mind with it, but I'm glad I didn't get into the drug thing in high school. Sure, I've done my share of experimenting and head-tripping, but after awhile the music is the trip, and you'd rather hang at a friends with a smaller group than trip at a massive party where you can't carry on an in-depth conversation.
Different strokes for different folks. The key is to have fun. Be safe, do what you gotta do (drugs or not), but make sure you don't do something stupid like get behind the wheel. I look back on some of the crazy sh*t I did and wonder why I didn't end up in a body bag. I've chilled out, but still have to have my dose of trance music. |

I'm 18.. been clubbing for a year now, and i honestly say i cant see myself in this scene come 10 years time... perhaps less
i, like alot of ppl i know, enjoy raves much more than goin to a club, just has a better atmosphere, better music, better people etc...
but there will probably come a time where i'll start working (haha yea right) and going to raves with all its associated drug connotations will probably not be too good for my career.. im studying pharmacy and there we have very strict laws regarding drug use and stuff..
i think lawyers and maybe even doctors would all be in the same boat |

| i'm 18 too , been clubbing for over 1 year (never had problems to enter a nightclub even if the local law considered me as an under-age boy :rolleyes: ) and i already feel like clubbing is not really my thing . I almost never go to clubs unless a big famous dj comes in town (which is pretty rare comparing to Europe) . I've been only once to a rave and i can assure you it was the worst experience of my life , let's just say clubbing is better than raving ... What i like in myself (hehe ok ok i'm not showing off :p) is that i go to clubs for the music , not to drop pills drink booze and dance my ass off , my priority is enjoying the music . I'm not saying that i don't dance at all but dancing comes only if i like and enjoy the music |
