Music taste over the years

My music taste has changed quite considerably over recent years but the thing that makes me most curious is why i can't look back on a certain phase of musical taste.

For example my taste follows a path like this:

Trance/Hard House > Techno > Progressive > House > Techno > Minimal/Electro

I can't even bring myself to listen to much (ok there are the odd exceptions with my absolute favourite tracks) of what I used to listen to. I like my music a bit too upto date maybe.

Has anyone else got this problem and know why they cant look back through the years at their old music taste?

It's pretty easy isn't it; your tastes have changed, you don't like what you used to. And you certainly don't listen to music you don't like do you?

OLD!

But basically my taste went like this:

Euro -> Epic -> Non-epic -> Psy -> Goa -> Downbeat/ambient.

I bet a lot of people's lists will start out like that, mine certainly does. I think i'm currently in the non-epic -> psy phase

over the last years something like this...

99% goa/psy -> trance -> progressive -> techno & house -> everything

I only do it because they're two different genres. :D

actually a true music fan will always have a place in his heart for his history & what he's grown up on, and while not being into the newer stuff from the genres will never 'not' listen to things, it smells a bit too much of what many people do, which is pretty much hump whatevers cool then turn their back on it when something else comes along that's cooler.

while we're on that note.

disco/old rock > dance/euro > jungle/hardcore (oldskool) > hardcore/trancecore > trance (with mixings of club, house & hardhouse) > techno/psy/goa/ambient/chillout

however I still listen to whatever I want to regardless of how old it is. once a good track, always a good track.

classic rock > metal > rock > pop rock > rap > techno > house > trance > hard trance > trance > almost everything

I really like most kinds of music :toocool:
