So, anyone ended up going/getting in? What's the scoop? Spill it! Or is it "The first rule of Pacha - you don't talk about Pacha! The second rule of Pacha - YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT PACHA!" :D

friend and i got there by 1030. waited in line for .5 hour...wasn't that bad. reading the previous posts, i think pacha had its down last night...no lines forming from every which way.
pacha was not crowded at all...i think people were scared off from friday night. and speaking of the crowd, it was just plain odd. such a huge assortment of people...from the 60+ to just those that looked out of place.
nunez. i didn't care much for his stuff...he was dropping so really really heavy stuff. steve was awesome. i think as always. stayed for about an hour after his set began...the bass was too much...i felt my hair pulsating. intriguing sensation really. :eyes: |

Ok, here's my review.... went with a friend, her brother lives 2 blocks up 46th, so clutch. So a short walk to the club around 10:45. About 30-40 people in line that early. Since all the talk of a horrible opening night for Morillo, we decided to get there early. After about 25 min, we were inside. Surprisingly, the security were really friendly, all the way into the club. The will call went smooth, and before we knew it we were walking up the infamous steps. Once inside... it basically looked like Sound Factory, with a face lift. The bars were redone, alot nicer... the 2 showers upstairs opposite the bar were def an interesting addition. Several table areas upstairs... but overall, still looked virtually the same as before. The DJ booth is now on the main floor, and it has a nice lounge area behind it. One thing that I first noticed, when walking down to coatcheck, was how clear the system sounded on the dance floor. They must have really sunk some cash into it, because it was real crisp and clean. Anyways, the crowd was definitely different. Seemed like alot of newbies to clubs, which I didnt really mind. There were very few guidos or juceiheads, and I'm happy to say no one had their shirt off. I definitely think that Friday night scared alot of people away from Pacha, but that's not a bad thing, if they were trying to get rid of the old SF crowd. Jose Nunez was definitely on point as an opening DJ. He was playing alot of classic house, from late 90s, and throwing in some newer stuff like Ian Carey's Say What U Want. He kept the energy up, until Angello came up at about 2am. I almost didnt recognise him w/ the baseball hat on. He started out w/ a couple electro sounding tracks I didnt know, but they were banging, then he dropped the Drill, and the speakers started to bleed from that point on. He dropped ton of his own productions... such as Teasing Mr Charlie, Not So Dirty. He also hammered a load of his remixes... Sweet Dreams, Geht's Noch and Royskopp's What Else Is There. He also tweaked the out of Tocadisco's remix to In Your Arms. Overall... there wasn't much of a vibe in the club, but everyone on the dancefloor was having a good time. I had to jet at 4, because my friend was just too tired... so I didnt get to hear Sebastian Ingrosso. Not sure how late the night went... I overheard the bouncers saying it would probably go until 6am. I was definitely surprised the night went as well as it did... the music was the whole reason I was there. I heard people complaing about a dress code on Friday night, but I saw plenty of people wearing jeans and sneakers. I wore Pumas myself, and didnt have a problem at all. Hopefully Pacha will continue to bring talent to their venue, and the other problems should take care of themselves... |

| Dope. Sounds like it went well. I certainly won't mix the next time they bring some fun DJs. Except NYE. I don't go out on NYE. |

| Glad it went smoother this time around, I was actually getting turned off hearing all the bad reviews. I'm still going to give it some time before i make it out to Pacha. (until then I'll just keep reading reviews) |

The only reason I went was for the Swedes... I wont go back until someone out of the ordinary comes through. |

I took off just as Ingrosso was getting in because I went after hours Friday and couldn't stay out late Saturday, but I will say this. Part of it is how that building is acoustically, part of it is the new system that's in there (which hits just as hard as SF's), but that club has the best soundsystem in NY, HANDS DOWN. Add the fact that unlike other systems, it can be tweaked on the fly, and its game over.
The only reason Pacha got busted opening night, was because thats what the NYPD does to clubs when they open. Just look at how many times Crobar got busted before they got the after hours license the first few months...
In 3 months Pacha should be the best big room venue in NYC hands down, they just have to iron out some kinks. |

Not likely, because they dont cater to suite the standard club goer, its like the first big VIP club for celebrities in NYC. Im sure since Erick Morillo runs it, P. Diddy is a silent partner in there too - so I wouldnt be surprised if they throw a few hip-hop parties here and there with big name people popping up. As well as album release parties and stuff like that. I dont expect much out of that club for us that just go to have fun. |
