I just did a search on Google and got this!

We're sorry...

... but we can't process your request right now. A computer virus or spyware application is sending us automated requests, and it appears that your computer or network has been infected.

We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your computer is free of viruses and other spurious software.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.

Ok. I HAVE a good anti-virus program...and it's updated. Company laptop, corporate anti-virus, and it includes a built-in anti-spyware with their defs.
Where the hell do they get off telling me this when they don't even give ANY technical information AT ALL for me to investigate...

What a load o' crock!! :whip:

Its simple a false positive. There was something in your search terms that triggered that filter. They implemented that after some worms that used google's searching capabilities to locate websites with certain security holes that the worm exploited to propagate.

That doesn't jive either.

I type in the word, "smilies" and I get results fine.

I then type in the words, "forum smilies" and I get that message...
(maybe someone else can try this and see what they get?)

Does Google have something against forum smilies?? :wtf:
neuromancer
that search works for me.

Bizarre...

Meh....

I'm more peeved at the lack of technical documention regarding their allegation of being infected.
Highly untechnical indeed, and quite a shock considering who's trying to tell me. :conf:
Never cames across this before...hopefully not again

Thats what happens when you search for hardcore pornography :p

Who's your ISP? You shouldn't get that message with Bell or Rogers.

Rogers.

Thing is though, it has nothing to do with my ISP.
As above, I can search Google using the word, "smilies" but if I change that to "forum smilies" I get the strange message.
Can't see how that could be ISP related... :conf:

Only other idea I have is if your wifi is unsecured... anyone else?

Negative on that too.
In fact, I just bumped down my firmware ver. on my wireless router cause my MSN kept logging my off/on every 3-4min.
I'm sure there's a few here that can attest to that :p
(I'm sorry!!!)

Paging Durafei...

Google is probably using a script like killbots to identify possible attacks and they were just really stupid about the actual message they put up. A more responsible approach would be something to the effect of "We are experiencing unusually high traffic volume - in order to prevent a possible Denial of Service attack we require verification."

Meh. What are ya gonna do.
