Holla! :D

Anyone here know of any cheap (ie. free) software that would allow me to change the 'key' of a mp3?

Ta very much!

um the only way i know of changing the key of an mp3 (or any song for that matter) is to increase the pitch. approx 6% either way will change the key by a semitone

Audacity should be able to do that. It has seperate tempo and pitch changers, IIRC.

yes but tempo is just changing the speed of the song WITHOUT changing the key.

Sony Acid Pro does a good job. I think they allow trial runs. I took a track from a set rip so the sound is not so good to begin with. Here's what it sounds like:

pitch

You'll notice the tempo is fixed and the pitch is the only element affected.
