hey all,

yea Talla's got a nice mix of tracks here, alot of energy coming out of it, but he's still not at the top of his mixing game yet, hopefully soon though right, some tracks just jump to the other part of it, not smooth at all, but i definitely dig the energy of this set!
and i noticed the luvstruck - southside spinners mix or whatever it was? overall a good set! man that track after the 60 minute mark rocks!!! havent heard anything like that in a while!

peace

thx for posting this up swamper!

Yea thats what i'm talking about!!! it sucked though he was on the same time as Digweed, but it's all good. If anyone noticed a kid going crazy spining glowsticks on strings in the middle of a circle during talla's set in the gatecrasher area, hehe that was me. anyways enough about that, let the reviews go on :p

I've only heard the frist 27 minutes so far but I love talla, sometimes he does some strange mixing (eg he screws up) but his sets rock, tons of energy and not just the same stuff everyone else plays. I've got a set of him vs DJ Taucher and it is amazing, just a fantastic set, not one you go to sleep in. I just want him to come to Australia!

Despite the very weak mixing (which surprised me; Talla 2XLC, after all, is a quite famous DJ), this set is excellent.

The tracks are simply great, I love them.

(BTW that '99 mix of Universal Nation is superb.) 9/10.

i'm digging this set.. song selection is excellent.. although his mixing is terrible.. i haven't heard any other live sets of his but I hope they include better mixing.. it seems like there is almost no attempt to beat match at all.. just fading from one song to the next.. but he is famous so i guess he can get away w/ it.. if mixed properly, this set would get a 9 from me, but i'd have to give it a 6 solely because the lack of mixing skill.. song selection deserves the 9..

yes talla is world famous. yes the track selections are good. but any trancehead can pick out good tracks from bad. not that i'm a great dj but somebody's gotta say this...

this is hands down some of the worst *mixing* I've heard on tranceaddict.

from track to track there's almost no continuity. the first mix into push was offensive to say the least, i prayed that the next mix would be good... but my prayers were answered with another drop mix of a song that was never meant to go with together with any remix of universal nation. the rest is a plethora of individually grand tracks, but continuously mixed as one, a harmonic clash of the titans. even oakenfold can mix in key... didn't anyone else notice this?

THE VERDICT: make a playlist in winamp, use a 5 second crossfade, and i present to you, dj talla's kinki's palace mix.

I couldn't care less about mixing "in key". It's about what tracks get the crowd going nuts and if I were at this event, I would be going nuts. IMO this is a great set. Yes he plays a couple trcacks for too long but otherwise, I haven't heard a selection like this from hardly anyone else. And no not any trance head can pick good tracks.

What set would you recommend though, Mr. Connoisseur?

Ok, on the subject of decent mixing, some mixs in this where not compleat screw ups, though yes quite a few where, possibly because some of his tracks wheren't that easy to mix out of, but if i had to choose between this set and the technicaly very good but very, very boring John 00 flemming set that was on TA a while ago, i know i'd choose the talla, it ain't all about mixing, though i'd really love it if talla got a little smoother.

isn't this a review forum? take it with a grain of salt.

didn't mean to come off so offensive or high, if anyone feels the tracks are good then that's something i'll smile to if we ever ran into each other at a party. but if you feel the mixing is good then i won't flame you for your opinion just cause i disagree.

qwertyu
yeah i thought he could mix better too.....gave it a 7 for the good tracks
Vinyl Boy
would anybody happen to have the cue file of this set? WOuld save me a lot of work!
