Hi there fellow TAs. I don't know Toronto very well, and its been a while since my last visit. I need some help, however ...
I am looking for some Russian stores in Toronto that sell Russian foods/books. I totally forgot where the Russian Toronto community is (it's been 5 years since I've visited it). Isn't it somewhere on Spadina? Can someone hook me up with some info please. I tried Yellow Pages.ca but it didnt help me much.
Thanks! |

Thanks for the above info guys, it was very helpful.
However, I need another favour ... can someone tell me some of the business names so that I can look them up in Yellow Pages and do some calls?
Thanks in advance! Spasibo! :D ;) |

Exactly
Bathurst and anything is not Russian communities. They are jewish communities, with jews that may speak some Russian. Please dont mistake the two.
There is no defined communities, but I would much rather be affiliated with the Ukranianian percieved communities than anything to do with North York. So anything in Mississauga and Etobicoke is your best bet.
on Bloor Street by High Park. There is Tanyas Delis, Arbat, and three or four more stores just east of high park. Vatra on Islington/Bloor is good, plus it has a movie rental place beside it. Over on Cawthra/Burnarthorpe (I believe) there is a store with a movie rental place and a food place. There is also Lakeshore/Mimico, where Nash Magazinchik is, and some other Russian stores.
Names
Vatra
Nash Magazinchik
Ruskoe Kino
Arbat
Tanya's Deli |

Ah well. When I used to live in Toronto, Bathurst-Sheppard area had a lot of folks from the Motherland.
Also love those Jewish folks too. Went to WL Mackenzie for high school and every Jewish holiday was like another day off. |
