I should probably throw something like this up in the main forum, but better to have support first....
am I correct when I say NY/NJ has the best dancers in the world, or what!
anyone thats been to big parties in europe know they all do the 'euro shake' as I like to call it (jumping up and down like a wet noodle)... ever watch some party videos, they're terrible lol.
they may have the best artists, but we got the rhythm! |

| I would say that maybe NY/NJ has the best dancers in the world, except for the fact that if you saw me dance it would kill you. literally. lol. ask any ATL TA for examples. |

A thread like that in MD would cause more flame wars and anti-American comments (rebutted with anti-European comments) than any of the Tiesto, Top tracks of 2005, Worst tracks of 2005, etc. threads combined.
It would end with Ishkur and someone else having a big pissing contest about how people who dance to trance aren't really dancing and that's what's ruining everything in music.
I can't wait.:p |

I disagree...
NY/NJ is home of the guido-pump.
Therefore, NY/NJ will never be the king of the dancing world. |

I dont think that you can base this on a state or a country for that matter. I beleive its based on the individual that you are refering to. Ive seen lots of people that cant dance right here in NY, but I have also seems people with some nice moves. Its doesnt mean that NO ONE can dance in NY and I cant base my decision on just what I have seens because there may still be a lot that I havent seen. Same goes for your comment about European dancers. You can't base your comments on some videos you saw. Where you actually there to witness any of the events? If not you are just being biased on what you have seen without attempting to properly research if your assumption is correct.
I beleive that everyone has theyre own style and they dance to theyre own rhythm as the see fit. There are also standards to every country. Just because a particular form of dance is popular here does not mean that it is even known in other countries. If you bring some of those moves over there they may say that you cant dance because you arent dancing theyre style.
Its all a matter of opinion (unless you are a professional dance critic) and the individual themselves. |

while it's true that every country has their own unique styles (crasherdance, melbourne shuffle, etc.) and it's also true that ny/nj is home to the odious 'factory dance,' i've still seen more dope dancers here than in any other city i've clubbed in (and that's a nice geographic chunk) -- of course, that's my parochialism at its best.
methinks a dance-off -- 'beat it' and 'bad' style -- is in order... |

From what I have seen and been told Euro clubs have no vibe at all. This includes dancing. In America we are more expressive and with that comes movement of the body.
On a side note/// Best Euro Ta dancer is Gregor DrizzT, his lord of the dance turned quite a few heads at exit and arc 3 years ago :toothless |

You've obviously never been to South America. Dancing is like a part of the culture down there.
Of course, you guys did have the NYC Breakers, who used to own that scene back in the early 80's. |
