you need to be more specific. how tolerant are you with having to live without midi? is cost a factor? what kind of bass sounds are we talking here? acoustic bass? aalogue or digital bass sounds?
in my opinion, if you just want monster bass, then a sequential pro-one is about as good as it gets. but its costly. no midi and unstable tuning. you may be able to get midi retrofitted but the cost is high.
roland sh-101 is alot cheaper and its bassy as fu.ck too. can do some nice analogue bleepy sounds and has a suprisingly decent keyboard. you can get midi retrofitted. I dislike the filter resonance on this machine though.
moving on to virtual analogue, access virus is very bassy but it is extremely lacking in high frequency above 10 khz. even with filter saturation, ring modulation and the cutoff fully open. It is also quite complicated to program.
i have never found fully digital and digital FM synths to be especially appropriate for heavy, warm bass sounds but hey - different strokes and all that. |
