Who said classics always had to be golden oldies?
Well here is a modern classics in it's true form.
Blue Planet Corporation aka Gabriel Masurel is well recogniced in the goa/psy community. His first notorious trance EP was released way back in 1993. But it was in the mid 90s when he got signed to the legendary Flying Rhino Records his reputation grew.
What is so special about BPC is that eventhough he only released one album and a few 12" is that they all maintain a very high quality. And one of the most stellar releases is his latest 12", Digital Forward EP (2002). Both sides are truly amazing but it's the B-side; Digital Forward which is the real gem here.
Ethnic chantings combined with eastern melodies and a heavy bassline makes up for a belter of a trancer.
Personally this is up there among the top 5 best tunes released on this side of the millenium.

classic track!
what i love about this track is the percussion work keeps it driving, but it's still very subdued. it's also a great example of how to creatively incorporate samples into a track without ruining it. the synth stabs are also really nice.
most of his other work is a little too psy for my tastes, but this one hits the spot... |

yes indeed. also i love the sampling from the movie Gladiator with the old Marcus Aurelius saying "What will the history speak of me? The philosopher, the warrior, the tyrant or the emperor?"
there are loads of other nice samples, especially the one in the end which adds to the really nice atmosphere right through the tune |

| It's one of few tracks at 150+(?) bpm with movie quotes that give me the chills. |

| Ahh BPC, some wicked stuff going on during the years, this ones sure good, but I do prefer older stuff like Xoco. Maybe a tiny bit more psyish :p but well... |

Two very good tunes, but I agree that they're not among BPC's very best works. Everything he (they) released is class, but especially the early stuff. The full cd, Blue Planet, is one of the best trance cds ever IMO.

Have you heard the first 3 releases from back in 93-94 when they were still a duo? Excellent old-school trance, and not very "psyish". If you haven't heard it, you should definetely give it a listen... |

| Definitely agree with this, absolutely stunning in its' complex subleties. I remember the first time I heard it in a J00F set on the headphones, I sat there in awe...definitely what should be in a trance track. Not over-the-top, but smoothly evolving...ultimately the attention to detail is what sets it apart from the rest, much like James Holden's "Horizons." |

yes J00F also opened his Whitelabel Euphoria 1 with Digital Forward. But notice how he pitched down the tune to give it a more proggish dark feeling. and i love the way he mixes into DJ Nukem vs. Chab Wanted |

What type of music is this? i want to say prog trance, but I feel that the genre-hookers are going to get on my case. |

Was about to say that. Great track, but pitching it down makes all the difference IMO. The speed as it is is too fast I think. Better a bit slower :D |
