| I was dissapointed in this movie. I thought this was going to be a great western movie with cowboys that just happened to be gay. but nooo.. The entire freakin' movie was about the cowboys' gayness. what a gay movie |

I enjoyed the movie alot
The visuals were amazing and I liked the music as well
People blew up over the whole gay thing though its like barely a 1 minute scene and thats it..no idea why people were like omg teh gay sex!!!
I hate alot of the people that come into work (blockbuster) saying off hand comments about the movie..its always the same though.."look its brokefag mountain!!!..oh man INTO THE BLUE!! AWESOME!!"..dumbasses

| I loved it ....beautiful landscapes great actors ...im sure i'll buy it on dvd when it will be released .....maybe im too girlie but i found this movie very good |

Im talking about the sex scene only being an extremely small portion of the film and thats what everyone really blew up over..
It was a good film shame if people didnt take in the visuals and other aspects that were just as important |

I don't understand that because numerous independent and foreign films have graced this particular topic already. I mean yeah, the majority of people in this country don't know a whole lot about foreign or Independent films, they take what HOllywood throws at them.
Personally I think it's a big hooplah. A film is made to tell a story, maybe teach us a lesson or two about life, it's a cultural artifact. I don't think it should be as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be.
And Ang Lee's best work (imo) is The Ice Storm (based on the novel by Rick Moody). |
*specifically* about homosexuality, perhaps...but Philidelphia (1993), although mainly about AIDS awareness, was probably the first major Oscar film to venture into that area.
I definitely agree with Ice Storm being Ang Lee's best film...brilliant movie, *stellar* cast...probably not too many people have seen it, unfortunately :(
Brokeback Mountain is a bit overhyped...but it is a fantastic film...very well done...Ang Lee is one of the finest directors in the biz and a true testament to his talent is the manner in which he chose to film certain scenes.
no graphic sex...no graphic violence. Some lame hollywood-esque director would have shot what amounted to soft-core porn...and the couple of disturbing images that Lee momentaraily flickers on the screen would have been long, drawn out scenes of violence.
highly recommended...even if you're "turned off" (for whatever silly reason) by anything gay...it's beautifully shot (typical of all of Lee's films), has a great score and the cast is top notch (again, typical of his films). |
