no, i'm not intrested in your STD.. i have 2 hermit crabs, chuck norris and bruce lee, and bruce is sick. I don't know what his deal is.. he his hanging half way out his shell and won't move, when i picked him up he almost fell out of his shell. i don't know what to do.
ok, you can post about your std crabs too if you want. |

Get him moist and keep him moist..... he's probably starting to shed his shell (molt). Seperate Bruce and Chuck because Bruce will be very vulnerable right now.
Oh and make sure bruce has a way to stay out of the light..... give him something to cover him with. |

| Well, this is the deal... i just bought these crabs on tuesday and the lady didn't give any usefull info on how to care for them, so i have the tank with the crab sand and the crab heater under the tank and the little rock water dish with a sponge in it and i put a tiki hut for them to hide in and i even put a absorbant coconut lining on the back to help keep it humid, oh and the crab sea salt for the water. I've given them a bath, i feed them a little bit a day and then clean the remains at night.. wtf could i be doing wrong? I think bruce was a bunk crab and was dying already so maybe today i will take him back and say "look lady, i just spent $150 on crab stuff and the other crab is doing really good." poor bruce. |

| oh and i've been keeping bruce really moist and he doesn't care, and he won't crawl into the hut... i even put a piece of eggshell in there for extra calcium. |

hermit crabs freak me out. i always go to pick them up and then when they put their legs out to crawl, i drop them. hahah they're like big bugs in a shell:wtf:
i hope yours is ok for your sake though...but if he's falling out of his shell, i don't think that's a good sign. don't they die out of their shell? i think i once killed a hermit crab to see what the rest of its body looked like...i know it was mean, but i was like 4 or 5 and i remember getting very upset after i did it and cried with guilt. |

| i just put him in "isolation" with the warm sand in his tiki hut with lots of moisture... i guess he'll either pull through or bite the dust.. i don't think he is molting though. |

oh noes! not moving and almost falling out of his shell is definitely not a good sign- i seriously doubt he is molting bc usually they basically go into hibernation mode for a few days before and after they molt...
are his legs thin (ie concave instead of convex?) i bought a hermit crab from petco recently and he died in 3 days- he would barely move at all and his legs were really thing... could be that you just bought him a lil sick. :( |
