No it's not that..

Let me elaborate please:

Last years mix had all nice proggy tracks like:

Elevation - Largo
Hammer & Bennet - Language
Max Graham featuring Jessica Riddle - Gone
Rio Addicts - Crossroads (Original Mix)
Elevation - Clear Blue (Original Mix)
Bakke & Ljungqvist - Fanatic

and so on and so on, but I feel that this years proggy tracks are just not doing it for me. I don't know how to explain it.

Then, last years mix had very nice trance tracks in it like:

Active Sight - Out Of Our Lives
Kyau vs Albert - Made Of Sun (KvA Hard Dub)
Robert Nickson - Spiral (Original Mix)
Nickelson - Yin (Solid Globe Remix)
Mirco de Govia - Voller Sterne (Super 8 Remix)

etc. etc.

I think that 2005 has been the year that has brought us Trance which is the most UNLIKE Trance as I like to see it. (Mind the part 'as I like to see it').

Where are this years Mirco de Govia - Voller Sterne or Robert Nickson - Spiral???

That's what I meant! But hey, it's just my opinion!

But because there are more than 20 good songs this year Armin decided to make a megamix the following week...

I don't really listen to ASOT anymore, haven't in over a year, so I don't keep track. I was only into it for a few months anyways back in 2004. There are more than 20, but I just personally think megamixes are stupid for trance music, okay for hip hop or pop or even some techno, but not trance. Trance is music that builds, breaks down, and shifts so I prefer DJ sets and mixed CDs that aren't heavily edited, with more than 13 or 14 tracks per CD. Megamixes don't capture what trance is about in my opinion. I like the essence of the song as almost a whole, rather than just a preview of it.

Actually what he should do is release his "Top 20 of 2005" set on CD, not this. He could do that instead of his ASOT CDs, and maybe release another Universal Religion, more of a sequal to the first one rather than his Universal Religion 2004, which was a capture of his Ibiza live sets. There hasn't really been an official second Universal Religion CD and I really enjoy that CD still...

I'll buy this just because it does have all the tracks we've been listening to all year. even if not in full length its still something I'll pick up in few years and listen to just for nostalgic purposes..

I think its a pretty awesome tracklisting, Armin himself said a few songs are just his personal favorites and didn't get picked for the top X (Frost & Maron - Mute Your Mind comes to mind :)). Even though I'll probably have this on .mp3, if I see it on CD, I'll be sure to pick it up.

Yes UV 2004 was a great CD! But I think there is no one this year because we get so many livesets via stream or radio that it doesn't make sense to release them on CD anymore...

Why don't u understand. It's not meant to be a NORMAL Mix, it's meant to be an overview of the year 2005...

i understand it perfectly - i just think it'll sound completely ridiculous. EDM tracks average around 6 mins in length, its their intro beats, breakdown and outro beats which make us love it like we do and sets us apart from other genres, so to cram that amount of tracks into 2 x 60min mixes with 90 seconds devoted to each track is just stupid.

Im sure people would much prefere 4 x 80min cd's with the tracks done properly - and if Armin who is more than well financed from his musical occupation so far cared the same he would have done it, instead of making this ridiculous "compliation".

Did you listen to the last megamixes?

They were both brilliant.

And no one forces you to buy the cds...listen to ASOT in 2 weeks instead :haha:
