Hello,
I Am wondering how to Rip Vinyl records into MP3...
Everyone makes it sound sooo easy. I got a program *VinylRip*,and I got 2 Turntables.. (i only use 1 tho)... and then i try to plug it into my "LineIn" (as instructed)... just one problem..
My Turntables have 2 Phono Plugs... not an RCA jack which goes into the back of every sound card (my sound card is 16bit too, soundblaster). Please help, i Got some older/newer vinyls I wanna rip to keep alive, and cherish..
please reply if you can help

I could be wrong, but don't you need a mixer in order to do this? I'm pretty sure you need to get an rca to 8th inch...plug the rca in the line out and the 8th inch in your line in on your computer.
Peace,

Nah, you'll need at least a phono preamp. You see the output of the turntable is at phono level. It's way lower than line level. It needs some amplification and correction, called RIAA correction.
So running the TT straight to your soundcard's line in won't give any good results.
Dj mixers have integrated phono preamps (that's why you connect your TT's to the phono in of your mixer, instead of using line in's). The output of the mixers is at line level, so that's adequate to connect to a LINE in.
Unless you have a TT with built in preamp (like Stanton STRs) you'll need a phono preamp to get the signal to line level first.
Then it's just a matter of getting an adaptor from whatever connection your mixer/preamp's output uses (RCA, XLR or TRS, ...) to a minijack. Most of those adaptor cables are available in shops, otherwise solder one yourself. |

yea dj thy is right
just get your table, plug it into the amp
and plug the amp directly to your soundcard, use a wav recording prog like soundforge or cool edit, record them, then encode to mp3, make sure you clean the vinyl off before hand, or else you might get some crackles and stuffs |

if you dont have a mixer, you can do it though a stero reviever too. provided it has phono inputs,
basically dj thy is right. unless your tts have built in phonopre amps, their not gonna beable to plug straight into the line-in on your sound card |
