Push the Middle button and 'Menu' on the wheel down at the same time time and hold down for a few seconds. wait until the apple ICON appears and then let go of both buttons. While the apple ICON is one the screen push Menu again and it should revive. This happens on my IPOD mini all the time even when it says that I have alot of battery power left. Once you get it back up and working the battery power is restored to where it was before the shutdown. I called the service centre when it first happened to me and they say it is very common and the fix is as I stated above.

I had my IPOD mini bought for me by my company as a going away gift when I resigned...if I had my choice, knowing the problems you have to deal with on a daily basis with the product, I would not spend my own cash on an any of the IPOD offerings.

Yes thanks for this wonderful contribution, because of this post, the world is now a much better place filled with candy and gumdrops and Eric Estrada is eternally riding his police cruiser happily into the sunset each night to be repeated for all of eternity and global warming has also been abolished.

Soft-reset (buttons: menu, action key trick)? Hard-reset (ipod restore feature from iPod softawre)?

Send it to Apple, they are really good with their warrenty as long as your under it. They send me a pre-postage box to put my iPod in, gave me a whole new unit. 0 Dollars Charge.
