make sure midi-thru is activated/on in cubase midi preferences.
make sure local on is set in your JP8000 settings. |

| check on what midi channel you are sending out of cubase. Then check what midi channel your JP is expecting to receive. |

Set up:
JP8000 audio out to your soundcard- if your soundcard only has one input, get a splitter, since the JP has two outs (left and right).
Then, MIDI out from your computer INTO your JP. This will allow you to control the JP with the piano roll in Cubase. If you have another cable you can get a MIDI out from the JP into your comp and use it simultaneously as a MIDI controller for your VSTs. |

| I no what your trying to say but in cubase as you no the input displays your vsts and your midi devices this also applies to the output so how to i get the input to the sound card. |

hey kane.
open a new audio track and click the little round speaker button.. it should go yellow. now once you press the key on the board you should hear something.. if not then there is something wrong with the wire or the soundcard aint set up properly..
then open a midi track and set the ins and outs on that channel to the midi ins/outs
is that whats wrong..? |

its triggering that theres an input but no output. If i put the input to my jp 8000 and the output to vanguard then it plays away. but its playing like a midi controller which makes the jp 8000 useless. im sure its something simple just cant think what.
cheers tho! |

First, you should try to do a search. There have been lots of topics exactly like this.
Second, no input in Cubase displays VSTi's. For audio channels, you can only choose the inputs/outputs of your soundcard or busses. For midi tracks, you can choose your midi-inputs as your inputs, and midi-outputs or VSTi's (or rewire channels in certain cases) as outputs.
Make a midi channel, go to the inpector and do what was said in the post before the one I quoted. Then make an audio track, choose the souncard channel that receives from the JP as your input. Activate the monitoring. |

i'm guessing that what you mean is that you're using the JP8000 as a controller keyboard for the Vanguard??? Id so, you need to understand that you need two midi cables, one that carries the signal from the JP's keyboard into the computer (and plays the vanguard) and then you need another one to carry the sequenced midi from Cubase to the JP, so that the JP can create some sound on it's own (not just controlling other softsynths).
Create a Midi track, draw in some midi notes in cubase. set the OUPUT of the midi track to the output on you soundcard that is connected to the midi IN on the JP (computer midi OUT -> JP midi IN).
press play in cubase so that the already sequenced midi data is played. Check and see if the JP is making any sound (using headphones or monitors directly connected to the audio out on the JP). This is just to verify that the JP is actually making sound and that the midi is correctly set up.
If there is audio then plug the Audio Output from the JP to your soundcard line In. Create a new audio track in cubase, select the corresponding Line inputs as the "In" on the audio track, and activate the Monitoring symbol (speaker symbol). This way you should hear sound streaming from the JP through your computer.
And btw... all this stuff is in the Manual, when the HELL are people goinh to learn that reading the Cubase manual is a MUST! . You don't spend 50.000 dollars on a new car unless you know how to drive it! The same applies to programs, learn to use them, read the frackin' manual |

| i did read the manual it just said about setting up midi controllers and if its not a midi controller to go to preferences and uncheck a box which i did and it cut the sound out completely. i wouldnt have asked unless it was a last resort. |

did u read/check my previous post. it is a midi controller keyboard, you can use all the knobs and sliders to control other midi/vst devices.
YOU MUST HAVE MIDI THRU ACTIVATED !!!
create a midi track and assign the midi input and output to the midi device the JP8000 is connected to.
create an audio track and click/turn on the monitor button (small speaker symbol). this audio track should be setup to receive audio from the bus your JP8000 audio in/out is connected to.
you not being very informative by not providing any info on your audio setup etc.....ASIO ??? CUBASE VERSION ???? SOUND CARD ????
read the manual again and again, until you understand cubase. you not reading the manual very well cause it's a basic procedure connecting a midi keyboard to cubase.
read your JP8000 manual, in particular the midi settings chapters.
help us to help u |
