Hey man good to see a fellow Ulsterman around ;)

About the strings, the start of it is fine, but sometimes the jump between the chords is a bit unexpected.
You need to widen the strings out a bit, use some reverb and stereo enhancing to make it fatter.
What software are you using? Send me a pm with your msn and ill see if i can give you a hand :)

Lunar Phase 7
They Unless I am Mistaken Are Fruity Loops Built In Patch Strings, and they are very good sounding in general.

I find its useful to us the Volume Envelope with them like so:

Del: 0
Att: 32
Hold: 0
Dec: 0
SVS: Full
Release: 32

Clearly this depends entirely on the sound your after, but the longer attack and decay sounds lend them a far more natural sound. Additonally I layer them loads, using 3-4 octave and then adjust the volume of each and pan them differently too. This fills the sound out a treat i find.

(Tune is sick btw mate!)
Degradation
Hi. You might consider a slower attck on the strings, with some thickening via effects and possibly doubling more notes (not octaves) to make the strings sound richer. You may also want to avoid following the string progression so closely with the arp. It makes it a little predictable. A driving sub bass might also help to ground it out. The song could also use some volume envelopes to build and release.
