Hey guys,
My buddy and I are taking a road trip to Vegas to see PVD and Tiesto during the new years. Since this is my first time driving to Vegas, I was not quite sure what's the safest/quickest route to get there.
This is what I came up with on Google:

Thanks for your help! |

That looks like the right route. Whatever you do do not take 101 all the way down. Keep in mind it is the holidays so give yourself a 2-3 hour time frame to get through the 152.
The 152 is a one lane road in the beginning and that's where all the traffic is. After you get to the i5 you should be fine. |

Yeah, 152 will be tough to get through. Last time when we came back to the bay from LA, it took us 2 hours just to get through the highway, that's why we are planning to leave the South Bay at around 6:30am, hopefully we'll get through 152 by 9 or so.
Soo excited for PVD and Tiesto!!! |

Sounds like a good time to leave.
You shouldn't have any problems if you leave at that time. |

im pretty sure thats teh way I took to get back from Love Parade. Its a brutal drive, and it will prolly be worse the day you leave. Especially the 15 leading up to vegas.
are you leaving the 29th ? |

Yeah we are planning to leave on the 29th. What was so bad about the drive? Do you think we should leave earlier instead?

i think the bad part about our drive was that love parade was the day before we were tired, and as previously mentioned, the traffic getting out of san fran sucks. After that it is just a long drive in the middle of no where.
plus for a bit it is down to a 2 lane road with no passing. that gets annoying. But you can survive it, it will be worht it ;) |

Well the thing is that we are staying with a friend in Summerlin. We are not staying at the strip, so we need to drive around Vegas and such. I guess driving to Vegas will be a once-in-a-life-time thing. It won't be too bad because we are taking turn driving.
See ya'll there :) |

yea, taking turns is key, I drove the whole way. Of course I stopped 2/3 of the way at a hotel after I realised I was wayyy too tired.
anyways, have fun, and I will see ya there. :wtf: |

| if i were you guys and you wanted to avoid all the traffic in california leave at around 8pm. i used to live in sacramento and i found that if i was in SF or sacto and i made sure i left around there the drive wasnt as bad because traffic was thinning and by the time you get to the more southern part its empty and there is no serious traffic. if you drive fast you will be there quickly around 4am. which i agree is late (or early for your friend to wake up) but its well worth it. last time i drove from sacto to irvine i left at 8pm and got here at 0115am.but then again i do drive fast as hell. even if you arent as speedy driver as me the times are good to leave because most people want to leave earlier and get stuck in traffic. well thats my .02. |
