| ok hold up...i live in canada toronto....and the word rave is dead.... everyone uses "party" to replace "rave" ... "like yo im hitting a jungle party tonight" or "im hitting a Techno/trance party tonight" we dont use the word rave either unless it really is a rave like the annual 3 day rave which is a rave....we dont know the location till hours before and its always in the middle of nowhere....we hit parties not raves please know the difference u whacky canadians |

..Yeah the illegal raves were when the word started to be used as Lunchalot said. But like the legal events like Dreamscape and Helter Skelter were still know as raves and played Happy Hardcore, Gabba Techno, Old Skool, House ,and Drum & Bass.
|
we call them Outlaw Parties :D (ctually..alwayz called em Outlaws far as I can remember)
"Raves" were called "Raves" if they were big productions...
mm I remember them being like $10 a head, and Outlaws being either free or $5 the most.
where the hell are the EAST COAST people on here?!? :p |

ha.. yeah in canada, we call it the "rave" scene all the time..
we throw them in county halls, outdoors, bars, whatever..
|
"We" do? You speak on behalf of all Canadians? We don't have Rave's in Toronto anymore nor do most people refer to them as such. They're just "parties" if anything at all, commonly referenced by the venue name or the name of the event itself. |

no, not trying to speak for all canadians..
just my local area.. I know the scene in toronto is a lot different..
we are lucky if we can get 500 people to a party here. |

sad truth: the scene is dead. the 'rave' scene is anyway.. the club scene is thriving here in london. all the party kids grew up and got i.d.

I'm glad I never went through that stage. |

that's so true...."party" has totally replaced "rave". i like the word party better anywayz. when you tell people you're going to a rave, they look at you weird and immediately assume you're going to do drugs. whatever. |

"rave" <---- just like a lot of things its overrated..
might be dead or just emerging from a shell in parts of the globe but it all comes down to just being another stupid label for generalizing the electronica scene- anyhow thats just my opinion =) |
