Buying a source project

Would you buy a source project for a track? I have an opportunity to buy it from a professional producer for about $350. The goal is to learn about mastering, EQ, and compression, something that is my weakness right now.

:/ ... hardly... maybe for 50$ if I really liked the song, but not for 350$...

i don't think u'll learn much by looking at a project. every single track must have it's own mastering "patch", eq, compression, etc

oh, and 350$ is a lot.

I'd give you mine for free. Nothing wrong with asking for some money but 350 is ridiculous. Better just invest that money on a good book.

Don't spend $350 on a pre-made track. It's allready been said that you won't learn anyhthing by it.
It artist has his own sound, his own style and his own way of doing things. You don't even know if the project is tidy. He might just have thrown stuff together without thinking of sorting it.

I'd be patient if I were you. If you just keep on working with music you'll learn everything in time. And when the time is right, you can spend $350 on buying a used synth, a couple of studio monitors or some other semi-pro music equipment.

Haha! Not a chance! You realise how much music you could buy with that money?! You could just buy a book on mastering instead.

Which "professional producer" is this? I'd like to know who goes around selling their project files for extortionate sums.

unless hes also giving you accapellas and rights to remixing the song...then maybe you could get it sold and make that money back =)

The problem with books is they're too broad. They are not geared toward Trance or its subgenres.

The books on mastering I've seen discuss everything from hip-hop to house... sure, there are some fundamentals, but most of that stuff is useless to me.

...and who's this professional producer?

I'm curious to know too who this pro guy is and secondly, what type of source would you be getting? Cubase, Reason, Logic, FL, etc...?

BOOsTER
isn't that hyper dooper super producer the lord of bass? Greek's nr.1: hardtrancer? :D
HardTranceProd
I can't disclose his name, sorry. It would be a FL project.
