Hi there,

Just wondering if any1 uses a Linux based OS to produce. If so do you need a emulator to run your sequencer. I have a copy of slackware and really want to try it out but need more info before I do.

Try Suse linux pro... It contains everything you need for producing. I did'nt get it to sound though I'm no linux master, but it seems cool!

Last time I checked Suse does not come with a fully fledged Midi Sequencer comparable to Cubase or Sonar, and I don't think such a program exists for linux (apart from Studio-to-Go or whatever it's called..). I haven't heard much about people producing on Linux, finding Linux drivers for your specialized multi-channel audio interfaces will be a pain and the amount of programs available is nothing compared to Windows and Mac. I know it sounds like a good idea, but Linux and the common computer user have nothing in common, Linux is mostly good for network servers and such, it just does not offer the simplicity and efficiency of Windows or Mac OS. (trust me, I've tried it, and I'm also not what you'd call *the average user* :) )
