HELP i have STATIC!!!

whatsup everyone?

okay my (beyond irritating) problem is that I have static in the right channel.. heres my setup:

two technics (bought em new, took nice care of them)
two ortofon night club (w/ brand new stylus for xmas)
vestax pcv-275 a few months old, all in a odyssey coffin.
stereo is just a technics amp and a variety of speakers depending on where i am (school or home).

so heres the problem. There has consistantly been static in the right channel. at first i figured whatever it is probably just a dirty record, but i started to hear it on every record. I tested a few things out today and im clueless. the static is in the headphones, not just the speakers (the headphone is linked to the mixer not the amp ofcourse) I tried twisting the headphone plug, taking it out and putting it back in, etc, no luck. I tried taking my needles out of the arm and putting them back in, made sure they were nice and tight, no luck. the problem occures on both the right and left turn table, both on the right channel. I looked at all the wires and they seem fine, ground is in. and even if it was the wires I figure what are the chances it would happen in both rights? i tried pushing on the wires a little (they are hard to get at cuz theyre in a coffin), but no luck. The only thing I can think of is both the needles are faulty? I replaced the stylus a few days ago because of the static, in hopes of fixing it, but the static is the same. I even tried playing the record at 33rpm and 45rpm and that static didn't change pitch or speed, leading me to believe its electrical. I tried upping the weight, changing the anti-skate setting, all useless.

the only thing i can think of is a while back i remember someone saying something about a problem the ortofon cartridges are prone to, where the metals react and cause a buildup or something? I don't know why this would happen on only the right channel for both tables tho... nor why ortofon would use metals prone to this, but i do remember reading that.

if anyone knows anything that could help me, PLEASE! you have no idea how irritating it is. I just got my hands on a william orbit abado for strings remix and on record it is the most beautiful thing iv heard in a while (mp3 does it no honor).. but the friggin right speaker distorts from the cracking.

thanks,

dude! it's probably your mixer, you have eliminated every other variable.. they get staticy all the time. your right fader is probably wearing out, replace it if you can.

what kind of mixer do you have?

try pluggin a CD player into that channel, then you will know for sure.

it's a vestax pcv-275.
i'll check out the cd player, good idea!

it's a brand new mixer with the new conducting plastic mixer, supposed to last a million swipes or something before any loss in sound... go figure =)

i'll let you guys know what happens w/ the cd player

guys i just want to warn the whole community against this item:

i bought it, and noticed a few things:
the lining is really thin and is rubbery, so it wears down your record sleeves.
the box itself is a little small, so it dents in your record sleeve edges.

and the biggest problem, is after reading up on how to flatten out vinyll I was about to pack some records into the case, when I realized that the locking mechanism sticks out into the internal of the box.. like this:

so yah the picture sucks, but anyway if you tried packing your records in it would majorly warp the top of all your records!!!!'
