hey, my parents are both school teachers. it is not the education system that is flawed, but the FUNDING of education. schools get for grants and aid, and teachers/administrations get much less than they deserve for pay. get this: it's cheaper for me to go to college (university) in Montreal as an INTERNATIONAL student, than it is to go IN-STATE to the University of Vermont. Something's obviously flawed when we can afford to spend billions of dollars on a pointless war, yet citzens left and right are unable to afford education. :whip:
lol as for americans being stupid...i'd say that only holds true for the south ;) |

the only way the US will ever fund schools properly is if they produced oil.And FYI there are a few peeps I have seen in Vermont with more fingers than teeth and even less brain cells:tongue2
how many Americans can name all 50 states without looking it up...I can, but most of them cant...good system indeed. |

Thats why I came to Montreal to do my MBA. It is cheaper for me to get my MBA at McGill than it is for me to do it pretty much anywhere in the U.S.
McGill has a top notch program and at the same time I get to enjoy Montreal while I'm here. The choice was easy. |

I am really not surprised of such a freakin comment on Cnn
since in europe it is widely spread that the US consider Canada as a US state and if you look at it from the international country code you can even see that each country in the world has it's own country code like for example Uk +49 , France +33 but the Us and Canada have the same +1 and this is called "Country Code" so they're like 1 country loooool.
I find this crazy ! |

Werd, my aunt is a teacher in colorado springs. While visiting this summer we had a HUGE argument. She believes people shouldnt leanr how to hand write anymore and only type on computors, her reasoning was that "there's too much for people to know these days, their brains cant be clutered with useless stuff like hand writting skills" anyways Im ashamed to related to her. My point is it's not just the system but the teachers in the US are retarded. |

I think the Americans have some of the most brilliant people, but at the same time some of the least informed morons on the planet.
My American relatives don't get taught global geography really, although they of course made a point of learning it themselves.
I think to a lot of middle-americans, America is where it's at and to them the rest of the world isn't as important as where they are. (The rest of America included). |

moi je vais rien dire, car le thread va finir a 100 pages...
:o :o :o
moi je crois que le commentateur en question de CNN, n'a pas complétement tort.
C'est vrai que sur plusieurs questions et domaines nous sommes très loin derriere les US. |
