Well Sean, none of us have heard of those Jan Hagel cookies, must be something local to a certain part of Holland.
HOWEVER, speculaas (holy YES) and then on New Years Eve, oliebollen... Andrea knows what I'm talkin' about here.
OLIEBOLLEN ARE THE GREATEST THINGS IN THE UNIVERSE.
Can't forget Sinter Klaas and Zwarte Piet.
