I am in town for two weeks on vacation, can anyone recommend a good record store to stop by in SF? I am looking for House/Tech/Minimal/Progressive if that helps.

I have been to the Amoeba in Hollywood, it was more like an all out music store with a record section. Is Frequency 8 more like a normal record store?

well the amoeba in SF is bigger from what i remember. i can search through the trance section in LA in about 20 minutes, and in SF it took me like an hour. haha. Frequency 8 is a store owned by Mars I believe. It is the name of his record label too. So I assume it is a full on record store with nothin but records.

F8 is really small, but is all edm (mostly trance). It has all the major productions. You could also go to Berkeley (take BART or something) and go to Skills DJ Shop owned by Dyloot. http://skillsdjworkshop.com/

Ya you have to come to Skills at Berkeley. I go there frequently since my place at Berkeley is only 5 minutes away

the frequency 8 store is now called Reverb and owned by Mystre,....the only existing F8 store is owned by Monkey in Seattle....The F8 record label however is alive and well and we're enjoying our 10 Year Anniversary and subsequent tour....here's out next event, and a little more about us....

F8 is now called Reverb Records, as someone said. Run by Mystre and DJ Icon.

There's also BPM on Fillmore just off of Haight. Actually right up the street from me.
There's the Skills DJ Workshop in Berkely.
There's others around. |
