is there a way you can transpose an existing vocal? or i guess a way to manually change notes? im guessing you can get this done in autotune or waves tune, but im hoping that there is not any expensive software involved... can i get this done cheap?

Hey. If $150 is cheap enough, you cant go wrong with Melodyne UNO. I'd recomend getting the full version of Melodyne but UNO works just as well. The main thing you lack is the multitracking interface. In my expirence with it, most of the time you wouldnt ever need the multitracking interface anyway but it is nice to be able to compare files.

looks very promising... i tried the demo and seems to be what im looking for...

i forgot to mention that i own cubase sx though... i haven't seen a pitch correction tool as mentioned above... does one come with cubase and i just couldn't find it?

There's no pitch correction "plugin" in Cubase, but it does have a pitch shift tool in the audio editing and it works very well for about +/- half an octave for vocals (more than that for other types of sounds).

If that doesn't do the trick, my suggestion would be Waves UltraPitch-Shift. It's got a range of settings for vocals, but it's not just a simple pitch shifter, you can do lots of cool effects with it.
