Review: Endgame, Dennis Hahn & Tygon at Purple Room 23 Dec 05

Holy on a dry stick.
I am wrecked from amount of ass shaking I did tonight.
Got there around 10:30 ish to hear Drew put down some proggy warm up tunes. One of best warm up sets I've heard. Drew, you gotta tell me what the two tribal house tunes you played around 11:30.
Dennis put one possibly one of the best Dennis Hahn set and I've seen quite few of them. Solid mixing, lots of energy in the tunes. Way Out West - Killa (Orkidea vs Dallas Superstars remix) = TUNE! Dogzilla - Without You = TUNE!
Tygon was next and he gave a lesson in tech trance and tech house. Danny Tenaglia - Turn Me On (Danny Oliveira's 9PM Ipanema 2006 remix) for starting tune. OMG. Watch out for this tune folks. It's an awesome tech trance tune. More bombs like TDR - Squelch (SvD remix), Marco V - More than Life Away, Marco V - Red, Purple, Blue, Roog and Greg - Uber and other tunes just blew me away. Kelly, you would have been very proud of me. ;)
It was good to see a lot of TAs out tonight. I counted around 25 ish. Good to see Mercedeh and Tom out! Too bad Tom got destroyed by alcohol so early lol. I haven't seen them in months! And Marina and Alex and Jason, Maria, and rest of people I haven't seen in awhile.
And yes, Cale did come out and Cameron and my plan of getting him banned if he was a no show did not have to go into effect. LOL

Really good night.
Great night.
Awesome night.
I hit on all the girls I knew, Was drunk when I got there, was going nuts with Dan's hat, got an assortment of insults from Maria and Joanna, was screaming TIESTO alot of the night just too piss people off and have a good laugh, got hammered and that's what I can remember.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HANAKAH(don't know how to spell it) and whatever other holiday that falls under today.

Upon my arrival, saying hi to everybody, the usual hello hello , ToMaZeE doesn't even say hi but rather, hands me a shot of I don't know what, so I nail it back and head to the bar. Thank you Tom for the shot, and thanks to Cam for the double-fistingness right after the shot. in' started me RIGHT off.
Only got to see about 15-20 minutes of Drew's set but it was uplifting epic gloriousness. Always a good show buddy, wish I could've heard more.
Then came ol' Dennis. How am I seriously supposed to describe this? The man is a legend. Better than any big-name headliner out there. Energetic, cranks out bangin' tunes, and one of the nicest guys out there. So good. Oh yeah, I go to request a song from Dennis and he leans down and yells "I DON'T HAVE ANY GODDAMN TIESTO." Classic Dennis moment.
Tim. Tygon. Tytim. Timgon. What am I doing? Uhhh anyway. Techno? Hmmmmmm? TECHNO? TECHNO?
TECHYES.
Even though Tim didn't have Foot Massage with him (I'll never forgive you :haha: ) he still laid down some serious ing hard techno that got the entire Purple Room movin'.
OVERALL: 17/10
FAN.ING.TASTIC.NIGHT.

What a good night. Two thumbs up for everyone. Endgame did a great job of setting the mood and tempo. As usual, Dennis dropped a great set, his energy on the decks was impressive and really pumped up the crowd. Last but not least was tygon.. It's been awhile since i've heard a mix by the man... and i was blown away!!! hardcore beats, i couldn't help but swing to the beat despite my lack of energy (Long Hard Day at work).
To all the TA's I met tonight for either the first time or peeps I haven't seen in quite some time., it was great to party with some of the nicest people i've met in years. Stingray - you the man.. I owe you a "Smoke" on the deck and a bottle of water. Perfect timing. It was a good time to slooooow down.. muhahah
There is so many others, and i have to apologize but i can't remember your names. I look forward to hooking up with everyone at the next party. Time for bed... There is now several monitors, and i'm not quite sure which one is real... :P

Guys all I have to say is thank you.
Thank you to everyone who came out tonight and made this one of the best nights I've had in a long time.
An extra special thank you to Andrew, Dennis and Tim for the tunes.
I'll have a proper review tomorrow along with my pix.

I'm usually one of the last to post on these reviews so I'm going to switch it up and get on the ball this time!
One of the best nights we've had there since the beginning of the fall... turnout was similar to the last couple of weeks but the TA turnout was what put it over the top.. I've said it before and I'll say it again, YOU GUYS ARE THE PARTY. That's YOUR room! So many familiar faces it just makes for such a great vibe and such a great night.
Drew fantastic opening set, very very solid. Not many djs know how to properly open it up and it's especially difficult in that room but you did it perfectly... keep at it buddy you're destined for great things!
Tygon as per usual ripped it up... people may or may not know it yet but we have one of the most talented EDM artists in the country right here in K-W with Tim.. it's a matter of time before the guy blows up... loving the hard beats dude, you switched it up nicely last night with a bit of electro/funky stuff and it sounded great!
These nights are labelled trance nights and I'm okay with that but I think there's something in it for everyone... we heard proggy house to full on house to full on techno and of coarse trance and I'd like to think these nights are an indication of where music is going... the appreciaton of various genres in dj sets. I've only booked the very best local up and coming talent and it shows; I'll continue to do so.
Thanks so much for everyone that came out and made it a memorable night... I'll be moving to Toronto in a week and coming back bi-weekly to play that room because it's just so easy to justify it with all the tremendous support from you guys.. thank-you thank-you!
