Remixers and their tunes

I was wondering how a remix is 'born'. I mean, who decides to do a remix of a tune? Is that the original artist or the remixer who thinks: I can make a great remix of this song, let's call the artist for permission.
And are there artists who ONLY make remixes, so who doesn't make any own productions? |

i don't know of any wippenberg own productions
but he is a great remixer
maybe he has one or two sings he made by himself...
but i'm not so sure of that |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's the artists who contacts the remixers. But some producers/djs make remixes to play in their own sets. I think I heard Marco V did this, but of course he couldn't release it. I can't remember the name of the track though..

Yeah, it's either the artist, or, more often than not, the record label who contacts the remixers to do a remix for an EP, not the other why round.
That's why you often find remixes are done from individuals who are signed to the same record label as the original artist. |

The remixer gets paid so he gets asked often... But I think there are some cases that a producer sees this track and just can't stop wanting to remix it so he asks... And if the answer's negative, he just doesn't release it ;) :D
Wippenberg's a wonderful remixer.
There is a track titled "Wippenberg- Neurodancer" going around the web but I only found it at d/l programs Kazaa Winmx etc. and it is so NOT (With 20 good exclamation marks after) Wippenberg's style!!!
I think Wippenberg is a nice person in reality, don't U think? I mean, sure he has a ot of time since he doesn't produce his own stuff, but still, he makes remixes quite often... Also, he doesn't care what's commercial cause he knows he can make anything better and because he has no prejudices!!! (Castles in the Sky, Sunshine by Dance Nation OMG, Light a Rainbow, although not cheesy as the others above). IMO His best remix is NIghtclubbing by Blank & Jones... is it his earliest?
Oh sh!t I'm so off-topic...
Anyone care to take a guess as to who is the "Requester" in these cases?
U2 - New Years Day (Ferry Corsten remix)
U2 - Eleavtion (Paul Van Dyk remix& Vandit club mix) |

Well, from what I've heard the guy behind Wippenberg is also part of Aquagen, so it's obvious that he's got own productions as well. The cheese factor is high though (Warp Brothers vs Aquagen - Phat Bass :whip: :whip: :whip: )...... |

you got that right...
pure cheese
not to mention
aquagen-hard to say im sorry - club mix |

| Of course, if a artist wants to remix a tune of there own accord, then they will do so, and they can submit it to the record label for consideration |

Drory: I think Bono has contacted Ferry and Paul, because he wantwd to hear what these tunes really had to hear like....
Seriously, the PvD remix of Elevation is unknown to me. Is it good? |

the PVD remix of Elevation is in PVD's album "Politics Of Dancing"
in the first cd |

What versions on "The Politics..." ? Is it the PvD remix or the Vandit club mix? I prefer the second one...
And about the remix:
It's an artwork. Not as hyping as some other PvD tunes but I would so love to dance to it...
Also, you know that ussualy a remix to pop or rock will be so ing cheap n cheasy... But when PvD does it... That's pure class.
He used a pretty inovative breakbeat, my favourite part is the middle, the breakbeat and relaxed lyrics... Yummy...
To conclue, at least hear, even if you don't like it, I think it will open your eyes at least a bit :) |
