Currently i have stanton STR8-100 tables and a stanton SMX 401 mixer.... I started DJing about 8 months ago... and now im using my buddies Technics while hes gone to school, but when hes back home im thinking of getting new equipment alltogether... i find the Technics amazing... like before i used to spend half the time keeping the beats in match even though they were matched to begin with... so i think the tables are losing pitch... now with the technics i jus match them to begin with and theyre set.... dont neeed to touch the tables at all during the mix... so i think its worth getting new tables even though theyre pretty pricey.... as for the mixer im not too sure what to get... so if you can recomend some good quality mixers that would be sweet... also any websites online you use for shopping and are reliable?
This is what i had in mind for equipment.... tell me if u can think of any better matches or deals... thanks a lot...
2x Technics SL-1210MK5 = 2x $460
Allen & Heath Xone:32 = $800 (the filter on this looks sweet)
Total = $1720
or....
2x Technics SL-1210MK5 = 2x $460
Ecler Nuo3 = $500
Total = $1420
Might also get a Pioneer EFX-500 Effector for $430... if u can think of better effects processors tell me about them... thanks... |

| Personally, I would buy the Techs second hand and put the cash towards something else such as new carts or headphones. Techs are pretty much invincible, so there's not much chance of you getting a pair that won't work as good as new. |

Sorry to break it to you man but the V700's aren't a quality headphone... I won't go into specifics but if you take some time to read the massive sticky on headphones you'll realise that there are much better out there. And about the cartridges, you'd be much better off with some Shure Whitelabels or maybe some Ortofon concords, the Stanton carts are only going to hamper the quality of your mixes in terms of sound quality.
About the mixer, anything from either Ecler or Allen and Heath is going to be good, both are renowned for their amazing sound quality but personally I'd go for the Xone, everyone who owns one doesn't shut up about the filters! |

| i dont see whats wrong with the sony headphones... my buddys had them for like 4 years and theyve never broken and the sound is fine... plus i got the stanton ones anyways.... those are pretty sweet too.... as for stanton needles i think theyre quality... they sound fine... more interested in what people think of the decks and mixer though... |

I agree in getting second hand Technics, just wait for the right deal and dont be too much in a hurry, they will come.
As for an effector another device to consider might be Korg KP2 KAOSS Pad:

As for mixer if your going to spend that kinda of cash get something along the line of Allen and Heath and Ecler as Rebel Brown already stated. Rotary knobs for the upfaders would be another thing to look into. (I forget which mixers come with that off hand).
Hopefully others can answer about your concerns to the various mixers more specifically (all I have is the DJM 707). |
