i think it should be where you live. why live somewhere and not adopt the culture as your own? |
Jason, what kind of culture does the US have? Everyone else's. We dont have our own culture and thats the point. You cant expect people to adopt your culture. |

Okay I feel like calling you all sorts of names but I'll play this one nice.
How would your flag specify ethnicity? Take my country for example. Should a black american use a different flag because they are black? A chinese american use the flag of china because that's their ethnicity?
Please, I'm not really sure how this would work. Maybe you could explain it to me. |
i know some ta's represent their flag by their ethnicity, and others by location. just looking for some opinions, not an argument.
so take your rolly-eyes somewhere else |

that's a ridiculous thing to say. The US may make up influences of many different cultures based on historical reasons but that isnt a reason to say we don't have a culture of our own.
The US culture is actually becoming THE Western culture. Just ask any European and they'll give you a list of things they hate about US culture. |
And in 10 years its not going to matter because China is very quickly becoming the next world power. Most Americans cant admit that, though. THATS American culture for you. |

Just that its THE Western culture. If it is THE Western culture, then its because we have acquired culture from all over. What culture is this exactly, that we are talking about? Being lazy, watching too much TV, playing too many video games, being overly conservative, wanting to convert the Middle East to Christianity...
Im just trying to get a take on what you think our culture is. |

| There is no culture that is all good (or all bad). It's easy to hate #1 however, and America has had a run of about 50-60 years. I think the US will remain the #1 super power throughout another generation, but as we become spoiled, self-centered, and lazy by the riches that we have amassed, other countries (China is a good bet, India another) will step up to the plate. |
