the meaning of trance

This has been braught up before, but id like to focus dirrectly on the topic. Are the tracks ever complete in ones mind? do you have in mind the general picutre, whatever the picutre maybe? then deducing the exact sounds that would represent that object in mind? this is how i would like it to be, but all that happens is i deal with whatever the crap i am dealt, like a syth sound. i greedily stick to anything pleasant thats offered and build around it creating something that wasn't intended in the first place... even though it might sound better than i planned. this makes me wonder if trance is even an artform, and what in the bloody ell am i doing listening to it sitting down since someone somewhere created this kickass resurection and they didn't even mean anythin' by it like i at first imagined :( i know beginners don't mean anythin by what they beat up, but maybe the enlightned, those with the skill, are able to build the tracks fluently thereby letting their soul out? no?

long story short, what has moved you to paint in this style? what is it that you are producing?

I do not consider it as much as art, for me music is an essential part of my life, I will get angry and frustrated living without making music. It aggrevates me. Making music is a way for me to just sit and communicate with myself I guess. It's like therapy. It keeps me calm and sane.

It is not really emotions I'm expressing in most cases.

If you pick up a paintbrush and start painting without knowing what you're planning to draw, and end up creating a masterpiece, is it not art?

I've always seen trance as a far more abstract kind of music than rock/pop/classical/jazz/etc. You can't judge trance by single elements, you have to look at it as a whole. It's how those single elements relate and transition into eachother that makes the piece - not the individual elements themselves.

For me trance always is about the emotion. I wouldn't want to be disrespectful to genres of music that I don't understand but I can't relate to stuff like hip hop or Drum n bass or whatever cause I just don't connect to it emotionaly. It's like a void.

When I set out to make music, i never have any clear outline of what structure I want to lay down or even the kind of tune. It just sort of happens. It's funny how different moods just seem to find expression through different types of sounds. Then I build from there.
