I don't know who to ask personally, so didn't know who to PM....
I am running an FM station out of my room :eyes: of trance... i wanted to broadcast it over the internet 24/7 like how ID&T does....
i downloaded all the information from www.shoutcast.com and read everything and its all WAYYYYYY over my head. I think it was written by computer whizzs, FOR computer whizzs.... and i'm still trying to figure out this abacus... :D
Anyone care to "work with me" here that has a LOT of patience? heh, thanks. :)

I just set up my shoutcast server, pain in the arse it is lol
I got it streaming MP3's but how do i connect winamp to my decks and mixer ?
i got the line in working and can listen to my decks via the PC but how do u connect them to winamp to shoutcast ?
Do u use the same way to connect traktor to winamp too ?
Also what is the best format to stream at ?
at the moment i got it set to
MP3@8kbps 11khz Mono and got a couple of ppl to tune in and they said sound quality was ok
I am on a 15k a second upload cap thou with my cable ISP so the bitrate i assume has to be kept quite low to prevent rebuffering for 56k users
Any help is appreciated :)

Grrr..... ok Neo i will be talking to you later....
BTW - the "shoutcast literature" said that broadcasting at 16khz is like listening to AM radio, 92khz is like FM radio, and 128khz is like CD quality.... which would you recommend? i think 11khz is really low...
... I'll be PMming you...

11khz is quite low, but it always depends on how many people you want to be able to tune in. I haven`t made a shoutcast server myself, but I read the documentation and I think I remember that I once saw a Bandwidth calculator. You filled the info about what bandwidth you have and what qualitiy you want to broadcast. I remember that the recommendation was: For one listener with 128kb you need 128kb upload speed which is dual ISDN....
That`s where the story ended for me...:toothless |
