I didn't end up bringing any CDs in the end but he told me how to get in touch with him to send him one and is expecting it!

I just woke up after only sleeping a few hours so far... but I am still beaming from last night :)
I had some Ottawa people meet up at my place and we ended up at the club close to 11:30... I was worried I would miss the beginning of Rush's set but thankfully he hadn't started. I had never been to club soda so I didn't know quite what to expect, but once inside it was easy to make the comparison of the space to an old movie theater, much like Aria in that sense. Instead of a dj booth though there was a stage at the back but it wasn't too high up thankfully. Yaz was warming up and Rush was on the stage with his arms crossed just observing the room... about 15-20 minutes later Rush came on the dex and right away dropped some no nonsense-banging hard tek... the place wasn't packed but it had a nice feel to it and there was room to dance. Rush dropped a few tracks I had recognized but escape me now so I will post later. He ended up doing the vocals for "Funk you right on up" which is a classic of his, and that was pretty fun.. the place was going nuts for that! I was dancing right near the front most of his set and I was happy to be around about 6-8 other females, all dancing their asses off right in the front,it was cool to see so many females appreciating such hard techno! My friend took some pictures so when they are ready I will post some.

When Rush got off the dex (100% vinyl as expected btw) Valérie was coming on (Pink Feria) and I could tell she was a bit nervous, she had even mentioned that to me when I chatted with her during Rush's set, but within a few tracks she was a lot more at ease and continued the pace a bit with the crowd very receptive. Rush ended up getting on the dancefloor during her set which is where I ended up chatting with him again, he actually surprised me by telling me *HE* was nervous before his set especially since it has been so long since he last played here, but I assured him he brought a style and performance which was much appreciated by those who were there, at least within the crew of 12 or so people I was with that was the case! I ended up asking him about the next release on his label and he told me he was going to give me a copy (WOOT!) so he went backstage to get a pressing of Kne Deep 34 by Pet Duo which he said would be out in about 3 months. It was a great momento for the evening for sure... Alex Bau was there as well and I talked to him briefly after he said his hellos to Rush.. at this stage btw Rush had confirmed he was going to go to Aria afterwards too :D

I would have loved to go to Aria afterwards to see Bau, but honestly I was tired enough at 3am I didn't think I would be in shape to be at an afterhours until 6 at least, so I opted to come home instead. I hope that was a great part of the evening also... would have been nice to make it out to both shows! I am interested to hear how that went for sure.

I have mentioned this before but BIG props to Martin for a job well done... he pulled off something special with that event/booking and we were really lucky to have Rush here in Montreal! Can't wait for his next techno party :)

Oh my god! What a night.

People, if you weren't there, you should cry to death. This was techno heaven.

I won't talk about the event itself, since i'm not very objective about it. But I think the Club Soda set-up was amazing and VJ Euterke did such a great job on that 20 foot screen, it was beautiful.

Thank you to everybody for our support, and much thanks to Kate that did a lot of promo for me. Her love for techno is undeniable. I gave everything I had for this event, and believe me, it was worth every penny cause it was for me, musically and emotionally ,the best party I did. People like her and Ira made this event possible by gathering more techno heads and convince them to come and see this.

First Yaz did a fantastic job warming up for Rush, he is one of the best to warm up a crowd. Then comes Rush, with all is mighty 6.8 foot high... I have never meet such a nice, shy, polite and charismatic DJ, if not human being. I mean this guy is pure class, I won't go into details, but believe me he is gold, and will be back (he made me promise at the end! lol)

He had a blast, and loved every minute of it. It was so intense, so incredible, i tought the guy would pass out went he left the decks. I don't know how he does it, but he has this fantastic talent and energy. It was quite a show. (and even harder than my imagination could take)

It was so heart warming to see Pink Feria Back behind the tables. Poor girl, playing after Rush with such a hard set, didn't play since 2 years, and guess what... she was great! So proud of her. and Rush loved her too.

Than let's go to Aria where I was already kind of tired. X-Cube doing a very good set and the place is rocking. Than comes Alex Bau....

And he did, my god, such an incredible set I just stood there for 3 hours amazed and in choc. This is the most incredible, technical, intelligent set I have ever witness from my own eyes and ears. Sure somebody will come out with a better set somebody played somewhere, but it was simply in a level of it's own. Getting better and better as it went along, there was an incredible chemistry he it was just beautiful to see him work and mastering his art like that. It was dark techno heaven. Just to give you an exemple of his talent, the song of the night was a remix he did of Blur Song #2... that he did a few hours before going to Aria in his f*ckn hotel room. (god!) The bomb. At one point there was a track with this awesome spooky sound in it, I ran to the booth and said "please, what's that track? it's just crazy". He laugh and said glad to know, it's mine, it's my latest one on Zenit 29.... He gave me the promo, so glad to have it.

And the good news of the day, his set was RECORDED and will be available on ravemontreal.com!!!

So that was the night and the week-end. Kal finished with a great transition, and there goes one another fabulous Ravemontreal party.

speedy downloads!!

Alex Bau could easily become a fave of mine, despite having never heard of him until recently. He does a great job of mixing tech-house, electro-house, and groovy techno.

29 mins of part 1 is my fave track right now.
Ravemontreal
First half hour is smooth... He took a little time warming things up, after that it's dark techno madness.

His remix of Blur song # 2 is at 26 min in part 2, and listen to this amazing spooky track he did on Zenit at 17:20 of part 2.

THIS is the techno I love. So dark, noisy, spooky, just wants to tear me apart.

Skipper
The zenit track is wicked!
Kate Manus
he has some new Basic Implant releases out now too!

I was listening to his Zenit release before going out to Soda.. quality for sure.
