ing. CDJ 200 vs. DN-S3500

Guys,
I'm trying to get into DJing. I want to spin mainly trance so no interest in scratching. I also want to spin at my own house parties and entertain my friends. The CDJ200s are going for $350 and the DNS3500s are going for $600. I could go with the Denons (they look hella cool) and not worry about having to upgrade in the future. But if you guys think that the CDJs will do just about everything that I would need, then I will save the extra money and put that down on a decent mixer. What do you guys think?
Thanks |

no need to be that harsh!
he tries to contribute to this page by asking a simple question!
you don't contribute anything!
about the players! i only played on the cdj200 (have one at home)
i think everyone who has the cdj200 on this page loves it, me too!
you can play mp3s with it, it's very accurate (0.02%)
but i think it's the best to try both out, then you can decide if the denons are worth the extra money! |

In fairness i'd expect that kind of a post from an american (no offense lads.. lol there's just loads of you on here, obviously)
Then again you are from up north hehe jk mate.. I find a picture/link of the search button a lot less helpful and takes no time at all! :)
If i had the money for a DNS3500, i'd be considering other cd decks. But i'm not 100% sure..
Seems like you're comparing two very different decks. Price-wise that is..
I know, from reading on here that the cdj200 holds it's own. However the DNS3500 is supposidly built like a tank, (again as is the cdj200 lol)
It's a tough one, but i don't know all the small features of the 3500 to compare it to everything i've read about the cdj200..
If it were me, i'd probably go with the DNS3500, just to be different as it's suppose to be a lovely deck.

hahha deal with it cosmo - he insulted me for being from the north but i took it in jest
as for my raving flame above i posted it literally 30 seconds after i dropped my cookie on the floor :whip:
its bad enuff that the guy didnt use the search enginge but for fuk's sake guys i saw at least 4 threads on the first page with "CDJ" in it - 2 of those were specifically about the CDJ200. theres also a rather large sticky talking about the benefits of CD decks. |

There is a very big difference in the price of these 2 decks, so I'd imagine that there would be a difference in the amount of features and such. Personally I'd go with the 200s and put the extra cash towards a better mixer or something else such as decent headphones.
Click me to see a video demo of the Denon. |

| sorry to hear u dropped your cookie. fyi- i had already conducted a search and read all of the posts on the CDJ200 before I started this thread. However, I haven't seen these two players compared side by side because of the price difference. My biggest fear is to out-grow a budget player and have to go and get the expensive one anyway. Like I said I don't know much about mixing and if you guys think that the CDJ will last a long time i.e. won't need to upgrade within a couple of years than that's what I will get. Frankly I can't see paying what they are asking for the CDJ1000MK2. |

why is it that people from different societies have to hate on americans? especially on TA? the guy's a moron, but not because he's american. let's try and stay away from the stereotypes, please.
anyways,
if you got enough for 600 bucks per deck, i would spend the money on two cdj-200's and get an efx unit instead. how i understand it, the dns-3500 has a little less accurate pitch (.05) as opposed to the cdj-200 (.02) but the denon has built in effects and a gimmicky-spinning platter. the platter and the effects are unneccessary, and you can find a better effects unit to buy on the side.
it sounds like you're new to djing, and i guess if you're looking for something that will look cool and impress your friends, get the dns-3500.. for the spinny platter and the effects knobs and such. i guess.
definitely if you've never tried djing before, don't buy anything. try traktor first. why drop $1200 on the denons, and then at least $150 on a mixer and all that, if you may or may not enjoy it
or better yet, if you want to spend even less money, get a pair of denon dns-1000's. they have the same built-in effects, no spinning platter, and a little less accurate pitch (.1) which is, contrary to popular belief on the forums, definitely manageable. i got mine for a little less than $500 for both of them. |

| just buy a pair of cdj200's and be done with it. theyre half the price and do everything you ll ever need. scratching is a stupid gimmick and only works with hip hop mixing. i have never ever heared a decent trance dj that scratches and i never want to. |
