Hey TA's
Been yonks since I posted up a track so heres my latest. Psytrance with a slight techno twist on it. Started off as a bit of a joke track, but eventually evolved into something half decent. Hope you like.
Contructive criticism much appreciated.

Hey Axo.Happy new year and have good years ;)
Your last work was "kick flip" isn't it?I'm asking cause I have to chat 3 months...and maybe I lost something new from you.
Anyway I'm full of curiosity to listen your new job...:D
Nice intro. The 1st change at 1:20 is cool.Is a mix of techno and psy thought.2:15 2nd change...I have the feeling that something missing but I found it at 2:44.Nice seqs.Your break is also very nice. After this the track is harder and better for my taste :toocool:I like all the vocals samples that you use and the fxs but I would prefer a stronger kick.MAybe is my hifi but sometimes when a lot of things going on the kick is little bit muddy.Generally is a very good job and I beleive that you spend a lot of hours to fix it.Psy atmosphere with techno feeling.I think is better and more groovey than kick flip with a lot of nice details.
Like it a lot pal :happy2: |

Cheers mate, thanks for the feedback. Yeah nothing new posted up since Kickflip. Had a few projects that ended up being long drawn out experimants that didn't go anywhere ;) Not really postworthy.
Yeah had a few people mention the kick now so I might look at it. It could certainly cut through the mix some more. Glad you can see the techno influences in it too. Always a tricky thing knowing how far to push those things and to be honest was a bit of a gamble since I dont make much techno, but turned out ok in the end I think. |

Hey Axo,
nice to hear some new stuff from you :)
so commenting as I listen..
The kick and bass combo is a little high in its character. Not a bad thing at all itself but maybe a deeper one would contribute the track more, would make it sound rawer and somehow "meaner" maybe.
Anyway, the track is @1:20 now and is grooving just nicely. Not extremely psychedelic though. There could be more things going on in that passage maybe.
2:15 - change of rythm now. Quite well done. And as we progress further the track keeps up more drive and psychedelia. Some sweet FX.
@3:30 now and the track is getting darker now. Good soundscapes, with voices and samples that with the brain. It has got a great psychedelic groove now.
4:55 - there is some distortion in that kick roll. Nothing really criticable tho since it can be fixed easily.
Great lead now. The track is getting just darker and more twisted over time which I really like. Could really imagine this on the dancefloor. Maybe I'll want to put this into one of my sets somewhen :)
Got to say that your track sounds original and in a way kinda oldschool. It reminds me a lot of one of my favorite tracks which I heard in a Goa Gil liveset. I dont know its name though, but its one of the trippiest tunes ever.
I could well imagine your tune with a less driving and techy percussion and with more focus on trippy synths, but that doesnt mean your tune is bad that way, not at all. I really liked it, especially the second half :) |

Thanks Lars, thats good feedback, appreciate it mate! Yes, my stuff isnt very dark, or not intentionally anyway. Lucky... cos I think you got those bases covered anyway.. lol. Trying to work on percussion and subtle groove changes at the moment.
Hmm.. didnt notice the distortion in the kick.. will have a look at it.

Writing as Im listening
Good bouncy bass, I like it. I think the kick could use more subbass boost since the bass occupies the mid-bass area, but keep its click, it sounds good. Its around 2 minutes and im waiting for something.....still waiting are 2:45....I personnaly prefer introducing the melodies kinda sooner, but thats jsut me. Good transition in the mid 3 minutes, however I was waiting for some synth to come in but it didnt come...Percs are good though, light and rythmic. at last what I was waiting for comes in at 5 minutes, better late than never. Now I can feel its going somewhere, and the drive is better heavier and heavier.
This is really good production, but since im more of a melody guy, I was kinda waiting for the something to fill in with the driving bass and beat. I also think you could add more percussion at the end to make it more heavy and banging.
Good stuff nonetheless, keep going! |

Thanks for feedback guys. All very good points. Yes, more of a percussion focus on this track rather than melodic. I was trying to work in some techno structures and elements to it and just work on the drive rather than journey as such. My next one should be more melodic though. Thanks for listening =)
iloop, Frost-RAVEN: Try downloading the mp3 version from the site. That should work in winamp or WMP. |

some good sounds and goa feel to this one. I agree with cyber on the oldschool feel of this, definately gives me that vibe.
technicaly- volume of the track seems a bit low, hi end seems a tad high compared to the lows so it makes the track a bit unbalanced, though it doesn't distract too much.
fx/transitions are wicked as well as the synth's that sound worked.
good job, i just recomend some eq'ing(overall boost of low/mids). |
