Curiously , I was listening to Frozen Beach when I read this sentence :) |

you have to remember the man is working there
how would you like a bunch of drunk and knackered tossers coming up and crowding you while you were trying to work?
there's usually a little time you can steal when he's done, get your autographs and pics then, djs are usually more than willing to talk to you once they're done playing
at least thats how i work, as little distractions during my set so i can concentrate on flow and timing, but once i'm done, everyone is my best friend
back on topic, lange gets me going |
That comment is wrong on so many levels.DJ's are there for the crowd and not themselves. Its not about playing all new records that most of the crowd havnt a clue about and its not all about getting 5 figure sums and staying away from the crowds that made you what you are.Another huge problem with some DJ's these days, definetly not the type that i'll ever be or want to be.When i DJ i'm there for the crowd simple as that. The day i'm there for myself and being a dick is the day i quit. |

Lange > Tiesto, imo.
djing and producing. |
I might not fancy tiesto as I used, music wise :o.... but Tiesto > Lange.... in terms of djing
producing wise.... Lange is better. |

tiesto thx |
adding to that, lange is still up there among my all-time favourite producers, closely rivalling tiesto. i've never rated him as a dj in the slightest however

the lost witness remixes were indeed class... back when cliched vocal trance sounded good. intercity is probably one of his most underrated tracks also... relatively subtle as far as epic trance goes but that's where its beauty lies. second only to frozen beach for me. frozen beach outshines anything i've ever heard by tiesto but then none of lange's trance stuff has ever really come close to it either |

Tiesto's done some incredible remixes (Southern Sun) and some pukka productions (Forever Today, Adagio, Nyana). I've seen him a couple of times, one time was crap, one time was good, one time was incredible.
I don't know much of Lange's production of remixes, but saw him this NYE and he played a very solid, enjoyable set with great crowd interaction.
Based on what I've seen and heard from Tiesto I'd opt for him at the moment, but that could well change if I heard some more of Lange's stuff. |

fairly new to trance (last couple of years ?)
Lange was mainly at the forefront of uk producers in 99/00 and if you compared tijs/lange's from that era, you'd not only have amazing tunes to compare, you'd see why some of us have found it hard to pull apart :) |

| heh, i think lange & matt darey could have almost been as big as ferry/armin by now had they caught onto the whole DJing thing sooner |

i wasn't saying it's ok for a dj to be a dick, i'm saying the crowds need to know that the man is there to make you move first and foremost, let him do his job
he's not there to juggle and make silly faces to entertain you, he's there to make you dance, so get out of the dj booth and get on the floor, talk to them before or after they're done playing, they're usually more than willing to do so |
