z3ta changing preset on me in abelton

Been working on a track for a bit now. Finally get the bassline that I wanted from a preset in z3ta. When I stop clips and stop the arrangement every single time it goes back to "Operator Bass C2" from the "Chill > Agressive (PB)" preset. I've tried freezing the track, doesn't work. Tried bringing in a new midi channel and it does the same thing.

Any help would be apreciated, as all I need to do is render it and play it tomorow night.

If all you need to do is render it, record the z3ta to an audio track and then you can do your mixing with everything without this problem. Strange problem though, I have never used that plugin but I have never had Live change presets on me.

maybe something is sending a program change command?

program change, yup that's definately what's going on (well, that's my guess, at least :) ). Create a new midi track, then copy only the notes, don't copy the whole midi part, just the notes, and paste them into the new track. That should get rid of the program change (assuming that's what bothering you)

or just double click on the midi track and you have a table with things like program bank and so on there...put everything to 0 and setup your patch for the bass...

Thanks everyone so much for the suggestions. I am at work right now but when I get home (very soon) I'm gonna try them out.

It's amazing how something so little can stress you out =P

You were absolutly right.

Thanks to everyone trying to help me. For everyone searching for the answer to this question here is the whole explanation:

I downloaded the midi from the net and loaded it into abelton. The thing was when you download a midi from the internet, there is already an assigned instrument for the midi track. So I messed around with the midi there and changed it up a lot but would always revert to that preset, because it is built into the midi file. When I copied over the notes to a new track, and only the notes, it worked because there was no built in default instrument.

So thanks to everyone for the help, and I hope by leaving the reason and the solution it will help someone with the same problem in the future.

if you did what I said, you wouldn't have to copy it :P
