though its not alot of green you got to remember you will get experience from doing this its a learning curve which most djs go through.i remember doing a nite at a golf club yes a golf club but i learnt so much from doing that nite. i got £60 for doing it we even had two live acts on aswel.that was 3 years ago

this year i have been asked to do the same venue (new years eve)but im getting £300 instead big jump.and the place is now sold out last time there was about 100 -130 tickets still left over.

so go and chance it you dont know who might be watching you do ur set

hate to burst your bubble
they are going to want top 40
common tale
"i know someone who djs"
"let's get them for the christmas party then"

because like you said, old people aren't going to listen to house and trance

If you were in Germany you would be set, my bro lives there and he showed me this video that he recorded of a party at a local park, they had a real dj spinning and a pretty sweet setup, they were blasting out techno and some other styles of music, the best thing about this party of about 150+ was that the youngest person there on average was about 60, they were ALL old people, dancing and going kinda nuts to techno music, this went on for about 8 hours threw the day, was a crazy little video.

Stock up on your 70's and 80's.
Some tracks out of that era are always going to make the place off.

Cheers
