I could only buy one now. I have to save up for the other one. I have messed around with the table for about an hour; I will never want to play on any other turntable. I went with the MK3D over the MK2D because the 3D has a button that brings the pitch back to 0% in about half a second. Ooooo goodness.
How many grams should I have as the couterweight? Antiskating setting? Hm, so many things to toy with.
(1) Technics SL1200MK3D $479.99
(1) Ortofon Niteclub Cart w/2 Stylus $129.99
Total: $609.00 (US)

my table & needle exactly... ofcourse I have two ;)
i kept my ortofons around 1.5 for a while and they were fine but on backspin or when the record was a little loose around the center (you know when the holes too big and the bastard wabbles), when i touched the record the needle would skip. i put it on 2.25 and it tracks amazing. less weight is better but i'd recommend my 2-2.5 or so. as for anti-skate i have it set to 1.5ish, and for height i have it at 0, you want the bottom of the cartride to be parallel to the record, which is 0 for me so prob the same for you. |

about the counter weight on the arm, you need to see what kind of cartridge you have and stuff, and then it tells you int eh instructions, kinda confusing, but youll get it
btw, i got m3d also, they rock! |

| I have the nightclub system, too. Before setting the weight, you need to balance the tonearm horizontally: Let it drop next to the platter (carfully, and with the cartridge attached), then adjust the counterweight until the arm remains balanced in a horizontal position. Now you set ONLY the ring that's used as a scale to "0", without moving the weight. From that point, turn the weight to the desired amount. I use 2.5 g, and 2.5 on the anti-skate, too. Never had any problems. |
