Portsmouth have announced that they have reached an agreement in principle with Alexandre Gaydamak over a part takeover of the club.
Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric will work alongside the multi-millionaire, whose father is billionaire financier Arcadi Gaydamak, in what is a dramatic development on the South Coast.
Earlier reports had suggested that Gaydamak had agreed to buy half the club for £15 million with the option of purchasing the other half at a later date, but this has yet to be confirmed by Portsmouth.
A club statement has confirmed that Gaydamak will help oversee the 'development of all aspects of Portsmouth football club, Pompey Stadium and the Pompey Village as well as a modern training facility' but Portsmouth supporters will be eager to see how much will be invested in squad development.
A figure of £100 million has been quoted by some sources but it remains to be seen how much money Harry Redknapp will have at his disposal, if as expected an agreement is reached.
On the subject of Redknapp's tenure, thought to be far from certain according to reports, it has been assured - with the club promising to continue to support him whole-heartedly.
''Contrary to press reports this morning, there is no question of Harry Redknapp's position as manager of the club being under threat,'' read a statement on the club's official website.
''He will have the full backing of Mr Alexandre Gaydamak and will continue to enjoy the full support of Milan Mandaric"
So another Russian buying a english club. £100m. Would be interesting to see if they can compete with the "big boys" because Portsmouth isnt the most attractive place to live! |

Who wants to live up there though?
Portsmouth isn't far from London so it would be easier to attract big players... |

WTF? How am I a redneck? That clearly shows your ignorance because you have no concept of the culture that exists in this part of America and yet you go about acting like you do.
So; shut it you isolationist Swiss, eh that is the best insult I could think of. |
