I just need help with the arrangment

i have my arps
i have my melodies
and i have my trance lead

my questions is where would the melody fit in the mix if

you would not play it with the ,arp/motif or the lead

for example when you hear the arp its usually by itself then when the arp stops the lead usually comes in

so if you could just give me some insight as to where would be a good spot for the melody maybe with the bass and kick before the arp and lead come in?

It really depends what kind of music you would like to create. This starts you on the road to creating your own sound. You could follow the whole intro--buildup--breakdown--buildup--breakdown--outro thing or you could create your own type of arrangement. Try to get an idea of how you'd like to start it off. Maybe start off with a little percussion, an intro to your bassline, and maybe a little background airy pad or something like that. Then just build elements on top of that. You could use the arp to slowly bring in your main melody and then throw both of them on top of each other. It's really all about how you want your track to sound. Think of it in your head first and you'll soon figure it out.

If it sounds good, it is good. Play around.

I am working on a 7 minute sawramp. Basically the song climaxes then hits the main lead and then breaks down. There a little breakdowns before the main lead but mostly is a sawramp.

The melody should probably fit with both the arp and the lead, if the song is to really gel as one. If the melody is really good, try rewriting the arps + motif to fit better with the melody. If not, try rewriting the melody. You can always use the elements you don't use in another tune...

OK this is probably gonna sound realy stoopid but anyway here goes...

what is the difference between a melody, and a lead?

The lead is the primary or leading instrument in an EDM composition.

The melody is what is played by the lead. Think of "lead" as short for "lead instrument".

Thankyou, that makes perfect sense.

OK, so how do I make a melody?
