So I'm up at 2am and this little idea popped into my head. There was these two songs that have similar effects so I took advantage of them. I took kind of a big risk in mixing two different genres together, but I found the result quite unexpected. I really love this transition and want to use it in a future mix, but the only reason I'm so hesitant to use it is because it builds down instead of building up, which leads me to my question: Should I use this transition or not?

You've put a big smile on my face with that now. :happy2:
It works pretty well, and it might even sound good (though then agaqin, it might sound awful) if you brought the end of Message In A Bottle back in after Hello Ladies, to ramp the energy back up. Might work! |

It's a good transition mate :) But as u were saying the energy of the two tracks isn't quite the same. But oh well, I practice this kind of transitions all the time sometimes and it can work quite well.
But do you always spin at like 145 bpm? :nervous: |

| First one is The Police - SOS (Sander van Doorn Remix) (or TBA - SOS), but I don't know the second one. |

| Tha transition itself worked out pretty well I think, but you lost all the energy when you brought that second track, try another track thar is similar to SOS, that has a little more energy... |

| Very sick transition man! Love the first song SOS, Armin played that alot in his early 200's of the ASOT radio show. If u play the transition at the right time in ur set it shouldnt be a problem, the energy has to be brought back down from time to time. |

No I don't. I usually start off in the late 130's range and build my way up.

You're right, the energy is one of the things I was afraid of. As far as the genres of music I was experimenting quite a bit. It gets kind of boring playing straight trance all the way through the set so I wanted to mix different genres as an experiment. Also, the second song is actually around the 130 Bpm range and I speeded it up
to 140 Bpm.
Thank you guys for your suggestions! I'm going to end up using this as an opener instead.:) |

well, you can still mix different styles, you can go from dark proghouse, slowly build it up to prog trance, trance, techtrande and even end techno if you'd like to...but the crossovers between the different styles have to build progressively so you don't lose/slam in all the high energetic tracks at once. Of course, exeptions can be made - but you have to find the right tracks, and the transition has to be spot on. |

Didn't really like that transition to be honest.. Like many people have told you before, the loss in energy is _too_ big! And the hi-hats on SOS are not sounding that well with Hello Ladies.. But maybe that could be arranged with some EQing :)
It's good that you're experimenting tho, keep it up! :) |

id have to agree too the energy drops way to much. transition if good though!
do you have a cdj/pc linked to your mixer? looped drum/kick samples can make a hooge difference to some transitions :) |
