Tranceaddict DJ mixes

Hey, I was just wondering if any of you tranceaddicts has their own mix avaliable somewhere - and by this I mean an actual turntable mix, none of those Mixmeister or ACID jokes. I'd love to hear some of your guys' talent

Well, I guess I'll have to start with my own creation

http://skywarped.com/mp3/skywarp-604.mp3 ... 77 MB, can get a little slow since it is hosted on my personal ADSL connection.

Also, it would be nice if Swamper would set up an area for DJ mixes made by TranceAddicts - we all know that good music and big name DJs don't have to go hand in hand.

Hmm by saying anything made by Acid and Mixmeister are jokes, do you mean that the talent involved is minimal or you can't make anything worthwhile with those programs? :)

Cuz I'd tend to agree with you on the former but not the latter.

Morbius, what I'm saying is that I'd like to hear some other DJ mixes made by tranceaddicts, and not mixes made by Acid or Mixmeister. Like I said, I would love to hear what other people on this board can deliver DJ-wise ('coz I'm sure some people here spin - at least as a hobby), but I am NOT interested in listening some MP3s that have been perfectly blended together through abovementioned programs. Just defeats the whole point of a "DJ" mix.

I'm not saying that these programs can't deliver decent results, in fact they can probably create mixes that can put every human DJ to shame - but again, i think it takes no talent to do that - so where's the point ? Hmm, I feel like I'm opening a can of worms here, so I think I should shut up now =)

Wow... nice set! Although I like the "full-on israeli" stuff more, this is still quite good :) How long have you been spinning for, and do you have a tracklist for this?

And sorry for being the devil's advocate here, but...
Many people say that the technical skill of DJing its much easier to achieve than the talent of selecting the perfect tracks to make up a set. Because programs like Acid don't help you choose the tracks, doesn't a very good mix in Acid take as much skill as the same mix on turntables? Plus, there are some things you can do with Acid that you can't do on turntables... although that statement works the other way around too. I'm getting myself some tables on tuesday, hopefully in a year or so I should have developed enough skill and a large enough vinyl collection to create a decent mix :P

One more question.... are you available for a booking in Winnipeg? :)
skywarp
Thank you for checking out my set, Morbius =) ... always good to know that people like what you are doing! I too have a weak spot for full-on goa, but I am also discovering the minimal, techno-y psy lately which I included in this mix.

I think I posted the tracklist a few times already, but here goes again ... hehe

Twelve Moons - Zero Gravity (Remix 2)
Planet B.E.N - Y2K
Dreamtec - Venus
Schpongle - Divine Moments of Truth (Instrumental remix)
Matenda - Split Personality
Stop & Fidget - Bits & Pieces (Sunday Night Live Madness Mix)
Vibrasphere - Autopilot
Monoclone - Dark Whisper (Tuesday Morning mix)
MASH - Neurosphere
Infected Mushroom - Symphonatic
Man With No Name - Revenge

About the track selection - that is true that the technical side of DJing isn't that hard to learn. The difficult part is to progress from merely mixing the tracks towards layering and creating "new" music on the fly and that is where the track selection becomes important. Exactly that "real time" spontaneous aspect is what makes DJing so fun and interesting - you can never do a mix the same way twice! Sitting in front of the computer and tweaking a mix until it is absolutely spotless and perfect doesn't have that creative impulse you get behind the decks ... it is kind of like the difference between driving automatic and stick-shift. Also, your track selection should always be geared towards the crowd - for me the greatest DJ isn't the one who has the newest and hottest tracks, or who can mix flawlessly (although these are all extremely important qualities). The best DJ is the one who can play the crowd the best and react to the atmosphere - and you can not learn that anywhere but in front of the decks at a party.

It is really great that you're getting yourself a pair of turntables, I wish you the best of luck ! Once you start spinning, you will begin to hear the music in a very different way. The most important thing is not to get discouraged in the beginning, because it takes quite a bit of time and practice to become proficient. What style do you plan to spin ?

Sure, I'd love to play a party in Winnipeg ... I'll e-mail you to discuss the details.

Oh, and if anybody wishes to see me live, I am booked for the GiveFree festival in Vancouver on August 4 & 5 =) ... I'm so hyped for it !!!

Hmm yep... I remember that tracklist, I think the thread was pushed off the board though because that was a while ago.

I've done some messing around with virtual turntables, and I can beatmatch well enough in that to not get horribly frustrated, but that's about it :) As for style... I'm not quite sure. I just picked up an assortment of trance records a couple days ago. I'd like to spin some sort of psy-trance/goa, but it seems like those records are alot harder to find than other trance :/

I already upped two of my mixes to the site's ftp, swamper said he was going to post one but hasnt yet :( theres one of mine on the ftp server at the moment, look for the directory called "twisted trance [email protected]" its in there, complete with a txt file with tracklistings etc in it.

Skywarp: i would love to listen to your set myself, but im on a scummy dial-up connection and it would take forever to download... if its resumable its possible but otherwise sorry mate :)from what morbius said though im guessing its pretty good!

Skywarp. I want to post my set too, but I pitifully don't know any descent free hosting service that would provide that much space for an ftp uploaded file. Do you?
