Advice needed:Keeping the flow

Hey guys, I have noticed a few problems as well as feedback from a few of my close friends in both of my gigs (my first 2 gigs). The main problem is trying to keep a good flow of beats within the set. Because of the nature of trance, the breakdowns..it sorta kills the flow of energy for some people. What should I be doing here? Should start a new transition with some breakdowns?
On the crowd, we do not have a club here so no fancy lights to add on the effects on the breakdowns. And I think this was the first trance party ever (from both of my gigs). It is highly R&B, HipHop and House oriented over here.
Anyway i would appreciate some help in how you guys maintain a good flow of energy and vibes in your set. It seems like the breakdowns of trance music is a turnoff for some people as it kills the flow.
Thanks,

Why not?? that's the advice I can give... and the advice that I took when I was having issues of losing energy during sets... |

instead of flaming me for it why not point out how it's not good advice?? everyone knows practise is crucial... but no one can do it enough imo... often enough u'll iron out ur own mistakes with a bit of it... all by urself ;)

Nothing i said warranted that sort of reply.
Practice may have nothing to do with it. If he's playing to a crowd who dont like trance, arent ever gonna like trance, and can on on perfectly fine without trance and want beats to keep them dancing, not breakdowns, that has nothing to do with practice.
so like i said, edit ur tunes, play house music or as zild said mix before the break.
and if all of this still doesnt work, find a new venue. |
