I have bought the turntables. Now I have to choose a mixer. I have been looking at Vestax. I don't want to go with Pioneer because they have BPM couters and I want to have a crutch when I learn how to beatmatch. Also, the vestaxs are in my price range.

I am really considering the PCV-275. Does this have 3 phono/line imputs? I see two channels labeled PGM1 and PGM2. What is the SUB that I am seeing between the two PGM channel controls. Image of the PCV-275.

What is the advantage of getting the 275 over the 175?

First of all.. in the pioneer mixers.. u can TURN OFF the BPM counters if u dont want to use'em!!..

Now second.. i think that in the PCV 275 u get the kill switches.. which u dont get in the 175
thats all the diff i think..

the 175 does have kills, but they are next to the rotarys where you make alteraltions to the eqs, i have the 175 it does me fine :) I am a DJ, have been for 4 years, I have used very expensive mixers, and I still use the 175, need more convincing, and the 175 can support 3 dex thru phono inputs, 3 line inputs, 3 other 1s i cant remember and there is 4 mic inputs, and if ur clever u can use the main mic as another input because it can be used thru the central channel.

On the 170/175/275, the center channel is sent directly to the Master Out, it doesn't go through crossfader (hence the different labeling). The 275 has weaker EQ than the 175 (+/- 16 dB versus +6/-26 dB), it also has a slightly different headphone cueing section - instead of listening to both tracks in the headphones (175), you have the cued track in one ear and the master (what's playing on the speakers) on the other ear. It is a matter of preference which one you're more comfortable with. PCV-275 also has a cue VU (signal level) meter, so you can see how loud the incoming track is and adjust your gain accordingly - 175 lacks this feature.

i say go with 275 m8.. its a little more expensive but its worth it

The extra money isnt worth it for the 275 i reckon..
I would get the PCV-175 ($400) because for $100+ more for the 275, it isnt good value.. you only get extra isolators and other minor features
If you want 4 channels get the PCV-150...

gotta LOVE the blue

though you can get the PMC-170A for $200 at Mars Music - but no kills or PCV fader

Actually the 170A does have kills, they're small switches next to the respective eq knob.

I would say that it is worth going for the 275. If I had the cash, I would buy this myself! The cue VU meters are extremely useful - it's always so annoying when you mix in a new track and find that its a lot quieter than the previous track because you haven't set the gain high enough. This is almost impossible to do by ear, especially in a loud club environment, so the VU meter really does help to get the right volume.
