So I want to be a trance DJ. I've got all my equipment ready. I've tried to mess around by mixing songs here and there but I dont feel like I'm making any progress. Where should I do to start off as a trance DJ? Any advice appreciated.

1) Get records.

2) Practice.

3) Phrase Matching
4) Harmonic mixing

It would probably take you a year or two to learn harmonic mixing. I don't even know it yet!

Yepp, that about covers it. Although like to add "track selection" and "Building a set" somewhere between Phrase and Harmonic Mixing, but that's nothing you should worry about yet. Just focus on learning how to beatmatch to begin with, that's the most essential thing when it comes to DJ-ing.

And of course, most important of all, you really do need to have a genuine interest in music (doesn't really matter if it's EDM or not), otherwise you'll just end up spending money on expensive eqíp that you later on will have to sell on Ebay only because you discovered that DJ-ing wasn't your cup of tea.

The best advice is just practice, practice and practice. If you are totally new to everything there is about DJ-ing and music in general then try searching for beginners tutorials, introduction to how tracks are built etc, either here on the forum or on Google. You'll find loads of handy info, tips and tricks.

Here's a thread that might give you some needy info: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=268927

Good luck!
