Compulsory Military Service

I recently met a group of Israeilies who flee their country and settled abroad to escape from compulsory '3 YEARS' of millitary service in their country !!! I sympathesized with them, 3 years is too much.
How long is Obligatory Millitary Service after finishing school in your country? |

| It is optional unless the U.S. has a draft. A draft is when you're required to serve in the military. Usually a draft is put into action when there is a desperate need for soldiers during war time. Your only way out of a draft is if you have college priorities, disabled, and similar situations. |

| Military service does not nessacerily mean you will fight in a war. Back in Chile, it was obligatory that all males 18 years of age must complete military service. I think it is more of a disciplinary learning experience; something North American teenagers desperately need. |

Although I came very close to going to officers training back in the day.
