ROMi - Forgotten One (full hq)

Hi there,

Today i've been listening to some tracks on a hard disc that i replaced for a new one some months ago. I found some forgotten tracks that sounded not too bad;) ,and this is one of them. Really a 'Forgotten One' for me, i think you guys also have those tracks you never finish, but when you listen to it after some time you think, 'that's not that bad':) . Ok, just an older trance track from me. made in Reason at the time. The overall mix is not that good, and don't pay too much atention at the snare, it sounds bad imo:) . Maybe i will remix this one some day.

edit: Here's a new remixed version of it:

hey there romi, the percs are nice and crisp and well the bass is a bit weak in the beginning? just some sounds i think. well the build up is nice, almost inaudible, the "break down" befor the beat is a tad to audible versus the build up but the break is so good, nice and dreamy.

the high strings are good to, sets the mood. the bassline that comes in isnt that weak but stil to weak for me ;).
well this track is really good only thing i dont like to much is those snares "rolling around" at 4:00 i think.

the track is really great when it slowly gets a higher tempo.

clean beats and production from the start.

pad and guitary melody work really well and sound very epic.

break is nice. doesnt stand out for me but sounds emotional. but bass and plucked electrical sounding synth is nice.

beat comes back and i love your lead! really epic and nice:)

you got flair i give you that mate.

nice work

rich:)

Thx for the replies and reviews, really apreciate them, especially for such an old track. I'm glad there are people who like it. I have imroved this one a bit, it's not yet at the level from my newest work, but it allready sounds better imo. Changed some percussion (new kick and snare) and mixed it better. Here is the improved version:

Tell me what you think of it now.

I heard the first one and then listened to the second one. AMAZING. I thought the first one sounded really clean and the production was spot on then when I hear the second one the difference was huge. the clarity in the drums and percussion and the sounds crisp as hell. Love the progressive feeling this tune has also. GREAT WORK!!:)

Thx for the reply wavydalker. Yeah, the track sounds cleaner now, i'm not yet perfectly happy with it at the moment, still some eq'ing to do, but i'm getting there. The original is from march 2005 and back then i did not have monitors yet, now i have and mixing is getting better. It was fun working again with Reason, but i still think that getting the mix right is very difficult with Reason, at least for me:( .

Is there someone else maybe with some suggestions, especially how to get the overall mix better in Reason (allready tried to get it better, but it still sucks imo). Any Reason users here?
